Development of employment of persons with disabilities Czech republic

The thesis is concerned with the issues related to the development of the system that helps the disabled people to integrate into the labour market in the Czech Republic using the theory of social construction of target groups. The aim of this thesis is to understand the development of the form of the observed policy that arises from the expected development of social construction of the chosen target group and its political power within a given period of time. To understand the problem and putting the topic was based on thematic analysis and study of the documents presented to readers of historical and social development status of persons with disabilities in society. Monitored period from the nineties to the present, which was divided into shorter periods. In these periods, the final policy design was identified by way of the interviews with addressed experts. The experts expressed their opinions also on the development of social construction and political power of the target group, which was supported by the study of the documents. Social construction of the people with disabilities in employment policy

This paper analyses social constructions of people with disabilities in Czech employment policy with a help of Anne Schneider's and Helen Ingram's theoretical framework: Social constructions of target populations. Methodologically this paper is a case study, the analysis is based on a secondary analysis of statistical data and a study of public policy documents, primarily analysis of legislation development and relevant strategic documents. The paper is attempting to define general construction of people with disabilities by public reprepresentative surveys. Power of the group is defined by characteristics resulting from the theoretical framework. The key part of the paper examines, what policies assume about participation of people with disabilities on the labour market. At the end the paper describes employment rates of this group. In conclusion the paper describes how hidden asumptions in design of policy probably hinders participation of people with disabilities on the labour market.
The Issue of Employment of People with Disabilities in the Czech Republic from Perspective of Employers

The aim of the thesis "The issue of employment of people with disabilities in the Czech Republic from the perspective of employers," is to determine what is the role of employers in the current institutional setting of the Czech social system of employment support for disabled people. The work is based on the theoretical framework of the rational choice theory, social preferences and the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility. The thesis analyzes the parameters of the Czech support to employers in employing persons with disabilities, the employers view on this support and the attitude of employers towards their more active involvement in the integration of persons with disabilities in the open labor market. For this purpose, the work uses a selection of completed researches and studies dealing with the issue and the research survey of employers conducted by the author of this thesis. This diploma thesis, "Institute or field services?", deals with the topic of social services for people with intellectual disabilities. It focuses on the analysis of various types of social services - field, outpatient and residential services - due to the specific needs of different clients with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to determine the structure of clients in residential institutions for people with intellectual disabilities and to identify factors on which families choose to use specific social services and determine the views of stakeholders in the field of social services on the benefits and limits of those types of services for people with intellectual disabilities. The issue of social services is assessed through the theoretical concept of rights of people with intellectual disabilities and the concept of de-institutionalization of social services. As a research method the questionnaire was used for providers of residential services in the capital city of Prague and interviews with various stakeholders in the field of services for people with intellectual disabilities. The conclusion discusses the most important issues in the care of people with intellectual disabilities and specific recommendations for improving the issue.
Analysis of the support for students with special needs in the form of assistance during their studies at the Charles University in Prague

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to analyse assistance services functioning at Charles University in Prague. The results of the analysis should draw attention to strengths and weaknesses of the functioning of the service assistance at Charles University. To detect these weaknesses and strengths, semistructured interviews were used. The students and assistants (who together create this assistance) were interviewed. At the same time, also the employees of the Office for Students with Special Needs which coordinates the service assistance at Charles University were interviewed. For comparison, a similar interview was conducted with the head of the Centre for handicapped students, which provides service assistance at the University of Economics in Prague. These interviews were used to a more detailed insight into the work of assistance services at Charles University. The study analyses the functionality of the service and is attempting to define the needs to help disadvantaged students to balance study conditions. Based on the results of work defines effective form of assistance. Experts agree that the system of care for vulnerable families in the Czech Republic is below the level of developed countries. The system is fragmented among several ministries, there is no uniform and enforceable standard of quality work with socially vulnerable families, there is no independent authority to oversee compliance with the Convention on the Rights of Child. Guarantor of help for socially vulnerable families is the state, but there is lack of social workers, who work intensively with the family. The result is the high number of children in institutional care. Experts prepare reform steps to streamline the system of care for socially vulnerable families in the Czech Republic - the numbers of children in institutional care should reduce by preventive programs and work with a family. Role of educational system in integration of people with mental retardation

This thesis is focused on analysis of educational system during the process of integration of mental disabled pupils - especialy during basic education at primary schools in mainstreaming. Characteristics of the educational system and its opportunities, considering the specification of mental disability, is the main intention of this dissertation. Another accents are put on main problems in educational system for mentaly disabled people as well as designing the ways that lead to improvement of attainment of pupils with special needs.There are used methods of expert investigation - especially of interviews with principal actors and question-forms. Basis for this are: rights of everyone to recieve education, premise that everyone is educatable and theory of streel level-byrocracy. Detailed look is focused on terms 'integration' and 'inclusion' plus its explanation in terms of matters that is related to education of mental disabled pupils. Experiences of mothers of children with severe intellectual disability

The bachelor thesis deals with the experience of mothers of children with a severe mental disability. It sums up the issues and impacts the everyday care has on the life of the mothers and their families. It contains a list of social benefits used for funding the child care and a description of social services which help mothers with the care and the integration of the disabled children according to their capabilities. The thesis is based on qualitative research conducted by the author, who interviewed eight mothers of moderately or severely mentally handicapped children to find out their opinions about medical care, behaviour of the family and others, experiences with negotiation with the authorities and the use of social services. The thesis concludes that the important factors for managing the care of disabled children are family cohesion and adequate information from professionals about the existing options. Influence of the activities of non-profit sector on quality of life of people with mental retardation

Diploma thesis "The influence of the activities of non-profit sector on the quality of life of people with mental retardation" is concerned with the analysis of the area of social services for people with mental retardation. The thesis aims at characterising the current position of the non-profit sector in meeting the needs of people with mental retardation, identifying problem areas and proposing recommendations, which could support the activities of the non-profit sector in this area. Methods such as institutional framework analysis, stakeholder analysis, interview with experts and stakeholders and questionnaire survey in NGOs are used. The issue of mental retardation is based on the theory of needs, the quality of life concept and the concept of human rights. The role of the non-profit sector is analysed in a broader institutional and social context. The availability of social services provided by NGOs for people with mental retardation in the Czech Republic is investigated and the main spheres of activities of NGOs according to the services provided are indentified. Analysis of application of Act. No. 108/2006

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the social services after the adoption of Act No. 108/2006 Coll. On social services. The first part outlined the historical development of social security in the Czech Republic, which resulted in the adoption of the aforementioned legislation. Its analytical work provides an interpretation of some basic concepts from the field and describes a set of legislative measures for social services in the Czech Republic. Further work continues the analysis of deficiencies and their causes in the social services. This analysis mainly concerns issues of accessibility, quality and financing of social services. Seeks not only the problems that are caused by the Act on Social Services, but also due to deficiencies practice. The work also includes a set of proposed measures to address selected issues, both for the statutory scheme, as well as practical measures. The research is focused on analyzing the social services in Karlovy Vary region, after the adoption of the Social Services Act. The result of analysis of data collected is to monitor the situation regarding the availability, quality and financing of services in this region, which is also accompanied by a proposal for concrete action for social services in the region of Karlovy Vary.
