Institute or field services?

This diploma thesis, "Institute or field services?", deals with the topic of social services for people with intellectual disabilities. It focuses on the analysis of various types of social services - field, outpatient and residential services - due to the specific needs of different clients with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to determine the structure of clients in residential institutions for people with intellectual disabilities and to identify factors on which families choose to use specific social services and determine the views of stakeholders in the field of social services on the benefits and limits of those types of services for people with intellectual disabilities. The issue of social services is assessed through the theoretical concept of rights of people with intellectual disabilities and the concept of de-institutionalization of social services. As a research method the questionnaire was used for providers of residential services in the capital city of Prague and interviews with various stakeholders in the field of services for people with intellectual disabilities. The conclusion discusses the most important issues in the care of people with intellectual disabilities and specific recommendations for improving the issue.
Social construction of the people with disabilities in employment policy

This paper analyses social constructions of people with disabilities in Czech employment policy with a help of Anne Schneider's and Helen Ingram's theoretical framework: Social constructions of target populations. Methodologically this paper is a case study, the analysis is based on a secondary analysis of statistical data and a study of public policy documents, primarily analysis of legislation development and relevant strategic documents. The paper is attempting to define general construction of people with disabilities by public reprepresentative surveys. Power of the group is defined by characteristics resulting from the theoretical framework. The key part of the paper examines, what policies assume about participation of people with disabilities on the labour market. At the end the paper describes employment rates of this group. In conclusion the paper describes how hidden asumptions in design of policy probably hinders participation of people with disabilities on the labour market.
Analysis of the support for students with special needs in the form of assistance during their studies at the Charles University in Prague

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to analyse assistance services functioning at Charles University in Prague. The results of the analysis should draw attention to strengths and weaknesses of the functioning of the service assistance at Charles University. To detect these weaknesses and strengths, semistructured interviews were used. The students and assistants (who together create this assistance) were interviewed. At the same time, also the employees of the Office for Students with Special Needs which coordinates the service assistance at Charles University were interviewed. For comparison, a similar interview was conducted with the head of the Centre for handicapped students, which provides service assistance at the University of Economics in Prague. These interviews were used to a more detailed insight into the work of assistance services at Charles University. The study analyses the functionality of the service and is attempting to define the needs to help disadvantaged students to balance study conditions. Based on the results of work defines effective form of assistance. Experiences of mothers of children with severe intellectual disability

The bachelor thesis deals with the experience of mothers of children with a severe mental disability. It sums up the issues and impacts the everyday care has on the life of the mothers and their families. It contains a list of social benefits used for funding the child care and a description of social services which help mothers with the care and the integration of the disabled children according to their capabilities. The thesis is based on qualitative research conducted by the author, who interviewed eight mothers of moderately or severely mentally handicapped children to find out their opinions about medical care, behaviour of the family and others, experiences with negotiation with the authorities and the use of social services. The thesis concludes that the important factors for managing the care of disabled children are family cohesion and adequate information from professionals about the existing options. The Issue of Employment of People with Disabilities in the Czech Republic from Perspective of Employers

The aim of the thesis "The issue of employment of people with disabilities in the Czech Republic from the perspective of employers," is to determine what is the role of employers in the current institutional setting of the Czech social system of employment support for disabled people. The work is based on the theoretical framework of the rational choice theory, social preferences and the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility. The thesis analyzes the parameters of the Czech support to employers in employing persons with disabilities, the employers view on this support and the attitude of employers towards their more active involvement in the integration of persons with disabilities in the open labor market. For this purpose, the work uses a selection of completed researches and studies dealing with the issue and the research survey of employers conducted by the author of this thesis. The status of persons with disability in the labor market in the Czech Republic

This thesis on "The status of persons with disabilities in the labor market in the Czech Republic" deals with unemployment of people with disabilities. It explores the evolution of the social approach to persons with disabilities, that in the course of history changed attitudes of rejection in tolerant attitude. Today, the status of a group of people with disabilities is affected by broader social aspects, which include social consciousness and a focus of national policies. The status of these groups of people are also shaped by other influences, including lack of education, the existence of barriers, ignorance of employers and low motivation. Employment has many meanings to humans in the form of financial security, social contact or as the creator of the daily regime. It is important to ensure that vulnerable groups in the labor market have the same opportunities as non-handicapped. In the Czech Republic there are measures that serve to promote the employment of vulnerable groups, which include a group of people with physicall disabilities. These measures include vocational rehabilitation, advice, retraining and sheltered employment. Non-profit organizations provide employment services to unemployed persons with disabilities. People with mental handicap on the employment market in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis "People with mental handicap on the employment market in the Czech Republic" deals with employment services offered to people with disabilities - especially with mental disabilities - in Czech Republic. Low employment of the people with mental handicap is discussed as all-society problem deepening the social exclusion of these people in addition to burdening national budget. Diploma thesis analyzes employment services which state provides and compares it with non-governmental organizations' services. It targets strengths of both types of these services and possibilities of connection and aims at solutions of low employment problem of people with mental disabilities. Interviews with stakeholders participating at solutions of this problem are also parts of diploma thesis.
The system of providing of medical and physiotherapeutic care for adult physically disabled people in the Czech Republic: The connection among medical and physiotherapeutic care, integration and the quality of life

The diploma thesis named "The system of providing of medical and physiotherapeutic care for adult physically disabled people in the Czech Republic: The connection among medical and physiotherapeutic care, integration and the quality of life" maps a particular kinds of medical and physiotherapeutic services provided (it includes for instance ambulatory physiotheraphy and bath medication) and offered by the system to the people with physical impairment. The data were obtained from qualitative interviews made with patients and also with specialists who works on in the field of medical-physiotherapeutic and social care. The autobiographical method was also used during 4 the research. Each kind of the care provided are valuated by patients - recipients of the care and and by specialists - persons who provide services. We esspecially focused on the number, availability, frequence and quality. We followed namely the possibility of getting and need of each kind of a medical-physiotherapeutic service: it's sequence and it's involvement to the possibility of the integration and the quality of life of the people with a physical impairment. What is the life of patients with Epidermolysis bullosa in the Czech republic

The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of Living with patients with rare diseases - Epidermolysis bullosa in the Czech Republic is focused on identifying the role of individual actors involved in financing support for patients and evaluating the significance of their roles. Patients suffering from rare diseases have a very specific situation in terms of financial contributions from the public budget, as their situation is not common. The diploma thesis is focused on the role of public sector actors, the non-profit sector (the role of Debra) and patient families in financing treatment and necessary care. It examines and compares the share of funding support for these individual actors, especially focusing on the share of funding from the public sector and the non-profit sector, where the majority is occupied by Debra, which focuses on supporting patients with butterfly wing disease. The thesis examines whether the role of the public sector in financing is sufficient and how significantly its role is complemented by the non-profit sector. The effectiveness of development cooperation is currently widely discussed. Development cooperation has come to be criticized, both in terms of its appropriateness and for failing to address some of the global challenges that affect poorer nations. Respecting the differences of developing countries, therefore, plays an important role. It is a question of whether developed countries are aware of cultural and other differences and are proceeding in their help concerning these differences. The problem that the thesis wants to draw attention to is the functionality of development cooperation, which can be influenced by various actors and their beliefs. The main goal is to try to explain, using the theory named Advocacy Coalition Framework, how the beliefs of actors can affect development cooperation. One of the other partial goals is to find out whether and how advocacy coalitions are formed in the field of development cooperation.
