TRPÁKOVÁ, Lenka
A nurse in care of a patient who has suffered a stroke, takes an irreplaceable role. She provides him basic and specialized nursing care, in which is communication a necessity. If the patient suffers from speech disorder as a consequence of stroke, communication becomes difficult and very specific situation, that the nurse has to deal with as a professional. Nurses may not be able to get by with the usual verbal expression, so it is advisable to use alternative aids, that can make the communication and work much easier for nurses. The goal of this bachelor's thesis was to find out, if nurses use any aids to facilitate communication and which are they like, and to map nurse's awareness of the use of modern methods in the form of smart devices and applications, developed for these purposes. A quantitative research investigation was used to reach these goals. The polling method was used for data collection and the data collection technique was a semi-structured questionnaire, which was compiled from 21 questions. It contained 3 open questions open, 2 semi-closed and 16 closed. The research group consisted of 129 nurses working in various areas of health care. The results of the research survey showed, that less than half of the asked nurses use aids, when they communicate with the patient. The nurses who use the aids, most often listed picture cards, pictograms, communication boards and paper and pencil among the aids. The least cited aid was a touchpad and an aphatic dictionary. We found that nurses aged 31 and over have greater awareness of modern smart device apps, which can significantly facilitate the communication. The benefit of this thesis lies in raising nurses' awareness of specific ways of communication between nurse and patient after stroke, especially through alternative aids and smart devices.
