Euroscepticism and Fragmentation in the British Conservative Party 2015-2017
Svobodová, Markéta ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kłusek, Johana (referee)
The main goal of a bachelor thesis called Euroscepticism and Fragmentation in the British Conservative Party 2015-2017 is to analyse fragmentation in Conservative Party caused by different opinions on how to deal with the European question on four main events that occurred in those years. It also attempts to answer whether and how the party Euroscepticism has changed. The events used for the analysis are the general election in 2015, the referendum concerning the British membership in European Union in 2016, the intra party election in the same year and the general election in 2017. Thesis includes theoretical part, which covers several typologies concerning factions and Euroscepticism. Based on the theoretical part were laid out three research criteria. The first criterion examines the external manifestations of Euroscepticism on party manifestos on which are compared statements concerning the European Union. The next chapter criterion examines the internal manifestations of party Euroscepticism and fragmentation. They are analysed based on the behaviour of factions and politicians between 2015 and 2017. The last criterion maps the manifestations of Euroscepticism and fragmentation on the intra party election of a new party leader. Before each analysis comes a description of examined subjects....

Svobodová, Markéta ; Kuhnová, Věra (advisor) ; Pokorný, Ladislav (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the use of adventurously oriented games in teaching of physical education in the gym at the second grade of elementary school. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is devoted to the child's personality in middle school age in terms of physical, motoric, mental and psychomotor. It also describes psychomotorics, psychomotor game, adventure education, adventurously oriented games, tools and utensils and motivation. In the practical part I examined the use of adventurously oriented games in physical education through the questionnaire and my own practice. The results have been recorded into graphs and tables. Each question was analyzed in the discussions, evaluated and I suggested possible solutions to identified problems. I replied at predetermined hypothesis and stated the results in the conclusion (see Chapter 3 of 5).
The Conception of Virginity in Greek Culture
Svobodová, Markéta ; Chlup, Radek (advisor) ; Pehal, Martin (referee)
Maidenhood is an interesting topic in the context of ancient Greek mythology and ritual. Despite the fact that women had a marginal position within the Greek polis, they were important in myth and ritual. Maidens in particular played an interesting part in Greek myth and ritual, mainly because they were in a transitional state between childhood and womanhood. Myths and rituals concerning maidens involve the goddesses Artemis and Hera, who help them with this transition. At the same time, this transitional state of maidenhood helped the girls learn to be women. Maidenhood transformed them from "wild" children into women ready to accept their roles as mothers and wives. One of the key questions that I would like to answer is how Greeks defined the concept of maidenhood. The maidens in myth and ritual that I'm concerned with are for example Pythia, Pandora, Atalanta or the Danaides. But who was a maiden? Why was she such an important figure in myth and ritual? To find an answer to this question I have turned to ancient Greek texts concerning the anatomy and health of women, and ancient Greek mythology and rituals have helped me interpret them. In the context of Greek thought, maidens were self-consistent in a way. They were pure, untouched and that is where their power came from.
Reception of Abstract Art in Interwar Czechoslovakia
Pastýříková, Lenka ; Bydžovská, Lenka (advisor) ; Kuzica Rokytová, Bronislava (referee) ; Svobodová, Markéta (referee)
The dissertation examines the reception of Czech and European abstract art in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and 1930s. It assumes that the Czechoslovak cultural milieu was unfavourable for abstract art at that time, yet various forms of its reception were occurring. Thus, the objective is to demonstrate and document opportunities for abstract art public presentation, related critical reactions and theoretical reflection. The reception history perspective followed in the dissertation deals with written sources, and focuses on relationship between viewers and abstract art and on handling particular artworks. Predominantly recipients such as theorists, art critics, editors, artists, and other participants in the arts sector are taken into consideration when exploring contemporaneous exhibiting, evaluation and interpretation of abstract art. The paper includes responses and attitudes to abstract painting and sculpture as well as to abstract photography, film and kinetic art.

Police Brutality in Young Adult Literature
Svobodová, Markéta ; Kýrová, Lucie (advisor) ; Kozák, Kryštof (referee)
The aim of a master thesis called Police Brutality in Young Adult Literature is to analyze the portrayal of police brutality in three young adult books, whether it reflects the reality and thus conveys a credible picture of the situation to teenage readers. The three books used for the analysis are The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas, Dear Martin by Nic Stone and Ghost Boys by Jewel Parker Rhodes. The analysis is based on three key areas and their analysis: the environment, language, and the act of police brutality in connection to racial stereotypes. To do so, the theoretical knowledge from the first three chapters of this thesis is applied. This part covers the concepts of police brutality and applies it to the case of the United States. It shows how the American police force has evolved and its current state, including the factors that influence police brutality in the United States. The analysis of individual books shows, that police brutality is portrayed in a credible way and it shows no distortion of reality for the purposes of fiction. This thesis also highlights the possibility of different interpretation of certain scenes, where the authors attempt to portray racial stereotypes and the interpretation depends on the readers' historical and cultural knowledge, which might result in a slight...

The demise of the Intermediate -Range Nuclear Forces Treaty: analysis of the position of the Russian Federation
Svobodová, Markéta ; Kolenovská, Daniela (advisor) ; Šír, Jan (referee)
Markéta Svobodová, 2019/2020 Abstract The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) served as one of the cornerstones of bilateral nuclear arms control between the two world's main nuclear powers, the Soviet Union (later the Russian Federation) and the United States of America. The Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and the U.S. President Ronald Reagan signed the treaty on December 8, 1987, and by that both of the states for the first time in history became obliged to eliminate a whole class of weapons - land-based ballistic and cruise missiles with range from 500 to 5500 kilometres. The INF Treaty continued the trend of attempting to use arms control measures in order to increase mutual trust and strategic stability, starting in the beginning of 1960s, when the world had been brought to a brink of a nuclear catastrophe by the Cuban Crisis. Signing of this treaty lifted the imminent nuclear danger stemming from deployment of the modern and more effective Soviet SS-20 weapon systems, which was followed by the deployment of the Pershing II missiles by the U.S. in Western Europe. Not only did the INF Treaty introduce an unprecedented verification regime, it also held a symbolic value of a step towards overcoming the Cold War tensions. However, after 2005 the treaty found itself under the pressure of...
