Kloužková, A. ; Svobodová, Ljuba ; Dvořáková, P. ; Kolářová, M. ; Kohoutková, M. ; Randáková, S. ; Šefců, R. ; Kloužek, J. ; Vokáč, M. ; Kubásek, J.
The methodology is focused on the conservation-restoration of glazed ceramics with regard to the stability and porosity of the ceramic shard. It provides a comprehensive overview of suitable procedures for processing this type of material. It contains an overview of suitable methods for assessing the degree of damage (both ceramic body and glaze), sampling procedures and methods for identifying chemical and mineralogical composition of ceramics and glazes and the stability of the system. It also describes cleaning options, procedures for consolidation, bonding and filling of missing fragments, and possible retouching of the ceramic body and glaze. It also contains principles for the appropriate storage of these objects and annotated examples are given to understand the individual results.

The methodology is focused on the conservation-restoration of low-fired unstable ceramics. It provides a comprehensive overview of suitable procedures for processing this type of material. It contains a summary of suitable methods for assessing the degree of damage, sampling procedures and recommended analyses for identifying chemical and mineralogical composition of ceramics. It also describes cleaning options, consolidation procedures, bonding and filling of missing fragments and possible retouching. It also contains principles for the appropriate storage of these objects and annotated examples are given to understand the individual methods.

Metodika je zaměřena na konzervování-restaurování nízkopálené nestabilní keramiky. Podává ucelený přehled o vhodných postupech pro zpracování materiálu tohoto typu. Obsahuje souhrn vhodných metod pro hodnocení stupně poškození, postupy odběru vzorku a doporučené analýzy pro identifikaci chemického a mineralogického složení keramiky. Dále popisuje možnosti čištění, postupy konsolidace, lepení a doplňování chybějících fragmentů a případné retuše.

Dále popisuje možnosti čištění, postupy konsolidace, lepení a doplňování chybějících fragmentů a případné retuše střepu i glazury. Obsahuje rovněž zásady pro vhodné uložení těchto předmětů a pro pochopení jednotlivých výsledků jsou uvedeny komentované příklady.

Possibilities of PC utilisation for archaeological pottery and potsherds reconstruction/evaluation
Svobodová, Ljuba
In 1995 the Archaeological Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences decided to establish the so called descriptive laboratory. The main target was to apply new methods and use the advantages and features of PCs for research of ancient pottery and its potsherds in a close co-operation with the usual ceramics laboratory. Every ceramic piece is very carefully cleaned, weighted, measured (length and thickness) and labelled with unique identification code tag. All obtained data including the descriptive features are loaded in the computer. After that all the pieces are given to the ceramics laboratory to perform their usual traditional work. All the resulting reconstructed pottery or its parts are then documented graphically and mathematically by descriptive laboratory again.
The restoration of the archaeological ceramics from polyculture funeral locality Vliněves 1999-2007
Svobodová, Ljuba
This paper presents the basic approach to the archaeological ceramics treatment. Described are the basic methods of ceramics conservation and restoration, like cleaning, joints searching, assembly and fixation, missing parts replacements, corrections of the shape and colour of the replacements, conservation, all recorded in the restoration report, which includes also the list of used materials, full photo documentation and the recommended climate control and regular inspections of the restored ceramics in the deposit storage. Practical demonstration on the ceramics, excavated on the site VLINĚVES (region Mělník) in the years 1999-2007.
