Masters of Prague Faculty of Arts 1437-1448

The thesis deals with masters of arts who lectured at the Prague faculty of arts or graduated from it in the years between 1437 and 1448. The work includes a reconstruction of the corps of masters for the period, their individual descriptions, and an analysis of the academic community, with special attention to the ties between masters and groups of masters.

The achievement of my bachelors work is to describe the changes in the German Charles University in Prague during the second world war. The main topics that I am to describe are personal changes either racial clean outs or the slowlier and less dramatic changes because of political reliability to the Germans. I am also going to write about the new subjects that were entered because of the new political climat. I will describe these with help of H. J. BEYER, who, being collaborator of SD, was an interesting example of young and ambitious teacher, who did not hesitated and took all the advantages, that the new systém at the University offered to a politicaly loyal person like him. He uses his position to discredit those of his collegues, that could threaten his career.

Charles University - Faculty of Arts, in comparison with universities in Brno and Olomouc in the turbulent years 1947 - 1950

Résumé This thesis examines the situation at three Czech universities in 1947 - 1950, Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno and Palacky University in Olomouc. To have an event around February 1948 to describe and then compare, it was necessary to go back to the time shortly after the Second World War, as the post-war development has undoubtedly influence on events in the following period. After the war the University had to deal with personnel and material losses. Many professors on their teaching and research space not returned, many of them died under the Nazi terror. Dismal state of buildings, which were mainly bombing explosions or other damage, especially to address Masaryk University, Brno. Directly after the war dealt University in Prague and Brno employee personnel cleansing of collaborators and people otherwise guilty against the state and national honor. Most affected was the Brno University. Another problem occurred when an enormous interest among young people in the study, due to the closure of Czech universities by the Nazis in the autumn of 1939 (in 1945). Faculty of Philosphy and Arts Charles University, Prague 1945-1953

This Bachelor's thesis examines the situation at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University, Czechoslovakia, in the aftermath of World War II, specifically during the tumultuous period from 1945 to 1953. It outlines the difficulties the University faced in the early post-war years in trying to cope with large numbers of students who had been unable to complete their studies due to the war, and who now wished to enroll. It also describes key events that intimately affected the University, such as the 600th anniversary of the founding of the University and the "Victorious February" of 1948, which decidedly changed the University's traditions. The thesis outlines the gradual change and ideological transformation of the University following the Communist takeover of February 1948. I illustrate societal and university developments during the period using the example of Professor Václav Čern, who served as a faculty member since the 1930s until his expulsion, on ideological grounds, in 1951. Many other faculty members, as well as students and staff, were forced to leave the University following ideologically driven inspections. "Ostforschung" at German Charles University in Prague in the years 1939-1945

The thesis is focused on describing changes, which took place at German Charles University in Prag during the World War II., especially at Faculty of Arts of German Charles University in Prague. In the introduction it is clarified, what is "Ostforschung" (research of the East) and the new structure of German Charles University in Prag is described. In the follow- up chapters methodics of "Ostforschung" were explained, which were enforced to the historical, ethnographic and philology research of Czech, Slowakia, Poland, states of Balkan and Russia by the nazi régime. Main part of the thesis is focused on selected doctoral thesis, which were elaborated at German Charles University. It describes authors of selected doctoral thesis and thematics.
