The Principles of Circular Economy in a Technical Services Company
STUCHLÍKOVÁ, Zuzana
The bachelor thesis deals with the principles of circular economicy in a technical services company. The theoretical part will explain the difference between circular economy and linear economy. Next the principles of circular economy and its benefits will be introduced. After that the thesis explains what innovation is and introduces its different types. It also shows the successes of Czech companies in innovation. In the practical part there will be an introduction of the company. A financial analysis based on the balance sheet and income statement will be performed. Then this will be compared with other financial analysis of companies with respect to the ownership situation. Either the owner is only a city or partly a city and a company. The aim of the practical part is to find out how the company currently handles waste and to recommend possible solutions to improve this system with respect to the environment. The detected state will serve as a basis for finding opportunities for improvement. In particular, the thesis works with the possibility of introducing the 3R principle, that means reduce, reuse and recycle. It can be expected that the introduction of this principle in particular will lead to an improvement of the impact of the company's waste management on the environment. Finally, the work should serve as a possible guide for the technical services company to improve environmental sustainability.
Between Power and Perception: Analyzing China's Influence in International Relations
Karásková, Ivana ; Kučerová, Irah (advisor) ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (referee) ; Harnisch, Sebastian (referee)
The doctoral thesis focuses on the People's Republic of China's influence in international relations. It follows two main research objectives, a theoretical and an empirical one. The first goal is to more firmly establish the concept of influence and distinguish it from power, the second is to analyze China's influence in the Czech Republic before, during and after the 'restart' of Czech-China relations in 2012. The thesis rests on the idea of a conceptual 'filter' through which power (conceptualized as ability) passes on its way to becoming influence. As a result, the effects of policies implemented by an actor who aims to exert a power on another actor are co-dependent not only on its power, but also the perception of the actor which is being influenced. The thesis claims that in case of a significant distance (defined geographically or otherwise) between 'the sender' and 'the receiver', perception matters more as it has greater ability to amplify or decrease the effects of the sender's power - i.e. the influence. The latter objective aims at explaining the methods the People's Republic of China uses to impose its interests on others and the receivers' reactions to such efforts. The thesis uses a case study of the Czech Republic as a country where China's influence is just getting established and...
The Impact of the Israeli - Palestinian conflict on the Union for the Mediterranean (2008-2011)
Stuchlíková, Zuzana ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
This thesis aims to analyze why and how did the Israeli-Palestinian conflict influence the Union for the Mediterranean in the first three years of its existence. The new organization was meant to provide a fresh impulse to the Euro-Mediterranean partnership, by focusing on pragmatic co-operation and newly introducing a concept of co-ownership and institutionalization. However, the initial thought of achieving the pragmatic cooperation through greater political engagement and visibility soon proved fatally wrong, with the Gaza war and its aftermaths. The first part briefly describes a history of EU policies towards Mediterranean, Barcelona Process and European Neighbourhood Policy. It also presents the attitude of all main actors - European states, Arab states and Israel - to the idea of regional cooperation in the Mediterranean. Second part introduces the Union for the Mediterranean and points out weak points of its structure, using the analysis of founding declarations from Paris and Marseille. The last, third chapter, uses the chronology of Israeli-Palestinian conflict to analyze its effects on the UfM structure. General conclusion of this thesis is that the structure, as agreed in 2008, was not able to deal with growing tensions between member states. On the contrary, it created a platform for...
Remittances and their impact on Eastern Europe
Kršjaková, Zuzana ; Kučerová, Irah (advisor) ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (referee)
Diploma thesis "Remittances and their impact on Eastern Europe" examines the phenomenon of remittances as part of global migration and its having been largely economically motivated and having a positive impact on poverty alleviation. The chosen approach is empirical-analytical methodology. The paper suggests several motivations leading to migration and remittances as well as some positive impacts and risks affecting the senders, receivers as well as the beneficiary economies of remittances. This thesis offers an overview of both all principal source countries and the main corridors of remittance flow. The paper analyses three countries from the former eastern block - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova - and the reasons which have lead to migration and remitting in these states in relation to their economic transformation from centrally planned to market economies. The analysis considers many factors such as the regional financial crisis in 1998 as well as the ethnically based military conflict which occurred due to the disintegration process in the former Yugoslavia. These issues influence not only the scale of remittances flow but also expand the variety of the senders which commonly include both refugees and Diasporas. Lastly, this thesis presents some possible scenarios related to the...
