Is there marriage premium for men in the Czech Republic?

This paper examines if there is marriage premium for men in the Czech Republic by using cross-sectional data from WageIndicator survey for 2009 and 2010. This paper inquires whether it is possible to explain this premium by any of the existing theories. Marriage premium is estimated in the amount of 12 -- 15 %. The results do not seem to be in line with the productivity theory or the specialization theory. The theory of human capital accumulation has been proved. On the contrary, the discriminatory theory seems to be plausible explanation of this phenomenon.

Analysis of the attendance of the Czech national football team´s home matches

This thesis investigates the effect of selected variables on the attendance of the Czech national football team's home matches in 2001--2013. The attendance in this thesis is meant as percentage fullness of the stadium. The data obtained were subjected to an econometric analysis, and the linear regression model showed determinant factors effecting match attendances. Even with the limited amount of observation and some problems which the models have, the results prove the assumption that ticket prices do not significantly effect the national team's match attendances. On the other hand, the type of match was proved to be an important determinant, with qualifying matches increasing the attendances by 13.62 %. The speculation about the significance of the opponent's attractiveness was not proved. Another variable with a significant influence on match attendances is the place where the match is played. If a match was played elsewhere than in Prague, the attendance increased by 16.92 %.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to estimate equity market value of the company OKD,a.s. as of 31.12.2012. The value of the company is to be stated for the purpose of a potential purchase. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part determines basic valuation criteria. The practical part includes strategic and financial analysis, analysis of value drivers and financial plan. DCF Entity method of valuation is implemented as the principal one.

Application of quality management tools in JES CZ s.r.o. company.

This bachelor thesis concentrates on analysing quality control in JES CZ s.r.o. company. The main objective is to suggest possible improvements in order to increase efficiency of the manufacturing process. Quality management and its tools are defined in the openning chapters and then applied on the manufacturing process. Application of these tools is based on four weeks lasting observation in the company's premises. Practical parts of this thesis also consists of information about the company, description of the technical background and the analysis of dining table's manufacturing process. The outcomes of this thesis are then demonstrated on this particular process.

Analýza determinant návštěvnosti hradu Kost

This thesis analyses and estimates the visitor rate determinants of the Castle Kost using econometric analysis. Based on the daily data from years 2007 - 2011 it concludes that the visitor rate is influenced by rainfall, temperature, petrol price, weekends and holidays, and by marketing events held in place. Next, the thesis concentrates on marketing events analysis, where it concludes that marketing events do not have to be profitable as it may seem at the first sight.

Impact of alcohol consumption on academic performance of university students

This bachelor thesis examines the impact of alcohol consumption on academic performance of university students. This impact was examined on students studying economics at University of Economics, Prague. Dataset was obtained from students by questionnaire survey and was subsequently supplemented by official data from the university's database. Based on the theoretical model an econometric model which examines the relationship was build. The results showed that intensity of consumption of alcohol has at the 5% significance level effect on the academic results. From the research can be concluded, that the negative effects of alcohol consumption like nausea, fatigue, and headache slightly dominate. However, it is apparent that more visits to restaurant for consumption of alcohol can lower this negative effect.

Economics of prohibition: An example of the Czech Republic in 2012

This paper presents an example of economics of prohibition in Liberec region in 2012. First, a model is built for consumption of beer in restaurants and for sale of beer in the supermarket as well. Using econometric analysis is shown that there decreased consumption of beer in restaurants and on the other hand, there increased sales of beer in supermarket during period of prohibition. Consumption and sale of beer is influenced days of the week, when the highest consumption is on Friday and on Saturday in the restaurants and sales of beer on Saturday in the supermarket. There decreased amount of crimes under the influence of alcohol during the period of alcohol prohibition and on the other hand increased amount of crimes under the influence of toxic substances compared to the same period in the previous year.

Analysis of Determinants of Home Matches Attendance Bohemians 1905

This paper investigate the influence of selected variables on home matches attendance of the football club Bohemians 1905 during seasons 2000/2001-2011/2012. Obtained data were subjected to econometric analysis. Even with problems, which models have, they confirm about fundamental influence of regional rivalry, because 42 % more spectators visited derby matches. Important influence showed variables relating to played competition, match day and football field. Expected effect of ticket price on attendance was not demonstrated.

Does exchange rate influece petrol price?

This paper tries to find a relationship between retail price of gasolin and Exchange rate of USD. For analysis uses monthly data for period of 1/2000-4/2012 for three states of European union: Czech republic, Hungary and Republic of Poland. Variables for this model are exchange rate of USD and domestic currency, crude oil price, average income and season. Even with problems, which models have, they assure about fundamental influence of crude oil on retail gasoline price and bring into discussion the influence od USD for small open economies, which are not able to influence the crude oil price by themself. According to results 1% change will cause 0,73% change in detail gasoline price for Czech, 0,72% change for Hungary and 0,13% for Poland. Furthermore the paper examines connection between exchange rate of EUR and gasoline prices in all countries, but fails to prove it.

Price Discrimination on the Marijuana Market: Schwag or Endo?

This paper presents an example of price discrimination on the market for marijuana in northern Bohemia in 2006. First, a model for a multifirm market is built, with emphasis on the existence of two types of firms and two qualities good offered. It is shown that in the case of a dealer of two qualities of marijuana there is an incentive to raise the price of the more expensive quality and reduce the price of the cheaper. Using econometric estimates, price discrimination is found in accordance with the predictions of the model in the amount of about 50 crowns per gram.
