The goal of the thesis Language biographies and social networks of the Czech minority members (on example of Czech-Croatian and Croatian-Czech bilingualism of Czechs in Croatia) is to contribute to the knowledge of language behavior of the Czech minority members from Czech or mixed Czech-Croatian families living in Croatia. Language is one of the basic identity attributes of both individual and group of individuals. Being a social phenomenon, language has got two basic functions: the communicative function (as a communication device) and the identifying function (an individual identifies themselves with a group through the use of a certain language). The author of the thesis strives to describe the language processes that are going on in compatriot families, and the factors which affect maintaining the language within the national minorities, on the example of the Czech minority in Croatia. The first part of the thesis introduces the Czech minority in Croatia since the times of the Czech's moving into Croatia, their organizing within the minority or founding of Czech associations and schools, up to the present form of existence, minority organization and Czech minority status in the laws and statutes of the Republic of Croatia. Mistakes in Acquisition of Serbian as a Foreign Language

(in English): Our master's thesis deals with errors that students do during the acquisition of Serbian language. We focused on the grammatical but also on the spelling aspects of the Serbian language. The data from students were collected in form of questionnaire, test and translation. These were filled in by fifty respondents whose mother tongue was mainly Czech and six respondents had Russian language as their mother tongue. Language proficiency of Serbian was between levels A1 and C2. However, native speakers of Serbian had Czech as their second mother tongue. Interlanguage and intralingual interference were also the matter of our error analysis. Because of that we were also interested in other Slavic languages that our respondents speak. The aim of our thesis is to find out what kind of errors students of Serbian language do. Through this we would like to help both the students in more efficient language learning and the teachers to overcome the errors made by students and thereby contribute to the improvement of their language skills.

Language contact of Serbian and Turkish

The subject of the present thesis is the language contact between Serbian and Turkish languages. The study is focused mainly on the borrowing of vocabulary as a result of the close contact between these two languages. The part of the research is presented in a form of a dictionary containing words in Turkish, Serbian (including Serbian domestic synonyms) and their translation to Czech. The first chapter examines the social and historical reasons of the penetration of the Turkish borrowings of vocabulary into the Serbian language. The second chapter presents the formation of contact linguistics and the definition of "language contact" as well as its types. The language contact occurs when two or more languages interact which leads to linguistic changes, one of the most common changes is borrowing of vocabulary. There are different types of languageborrowings, however, the most researched ones are the lexicalborrowings. In this thesis the Turkish loanwords/phrases were divided into groups based on their degree of domestication in the Serbian language(each group is presented by examples). Bilingualism and language management in Czech minority in Croatia

This thesis attends to the issue of a Czech minority in Croatia, local bilingualism and language management on various levels: from the level of an individual, over the level of the entire Czech minority living there and local government, up to the state level and its laws. In the first chapter I have summarized the history of Czech migration to the territory of today's Croatia, mainly during the 19th century, and their gradual organization after they found themselves located out of their home country when the Austria-Hungary dismembered. The second chapter describes current situation in the minority - its organizational structure, cultural life, school system and its information and publishing activities. The safeguard of its existence by law and constitution is also of importance. The third chapter dedicates to the language situation in the Czech minority in Croatia: Czech-croatian and Croatian-czech bilingualism, differentness in dialectological origin of the language, language as a system and factors that influence both, the language and its users.
