Realism in the Czechoslovak crime films from 60's (with the emphasis on the figure of criminalist and criminalistic methods)

Films and series with criminal themes are very popular among audience. They also have quite a long tradition in the Czech (Czechoslovak) cinematography. Specifically in the 60's a lot of quality films with detective plots were made and they are appreciated among the audience until today. They are also repeated in television frequently. These films demonstrate both crime and further investigation, focused on the police activity. This representation is frequently portrayed as a reality and the audience tend to view it as such. Therefore, it is interesting to observe if this representation corresponds to real forensic practice. This diploma thesis deals with the given matter. It analyses five Czechoslovak crime films from the 60's and its goal is to determine if the forensic methods correspond to then reality. It also focuses on the figure of the investigator as the representative of the law and as the main character. The first part of the thesis is comprised of the theoretical background. It describes the principles of film narrathology and mainly the principles of forensic methodology and practice. The second part of the thesis is practical. The theoretical background is applied here to analyse each of the chosen films. The summary responds to the research question and summarizes results of the analysis.
The social impact of the media coverage of world epidemics (exemplified on ebola and zika viruses)

This bachelor thesis focuses on the media influence on society during Ebola epidemic (in 2014-2016) and Zika epidemic (in 2016). The theoretical part describes the basic concepts and outlines the progress of both epidemics. Then presents a theoretical basis for the issue of the influence of media messages on the audience, society and the pharmaceutical industry. This part also briefly discusses the adaptation of reporting about diseases in the selected ethical codes (The Czech Television Code, BBC Editorial Guidelines and The Code of Association of Television Organizations CR). In the practical part, the findings from the theoretical part are applied in the case study, where the audio-visual news from The Czech television and Television Nova during Ebola and Zika epidemics are analysed. The thesis notices frequency of the news during these periods, the character of the news, language usage and the guests who appear in the broadcasting. The analysis is accompanied by a description of the editorial work in both televisions. Subsequently, based on the results of opinion polls, there are chosen the most visible effects, that the media coverage caused on the audience. USA and China relations since the end of bipolar world

The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that American policy is reactive to China's changing status in international relations and Sino-American relationship have gone through various phases since the end of bipolar world, but security remains the main component that shapes Sino-American relations until today. During the Cold War, the main aspect of the relationship was common security threat that diminished with the end of bipolar world. After that, economy became more important and China developed a comprehensive national power. However, with China's new power status in international relations came new realities in Sino-American relations driven by the security concerns again.
