The couchsurfing.org phenomenon in a context of alternative tourism, subculture and lifestyle

This thesis is focused on analyzing an online social network couchsurfing.org, a hospitality exchange network that provides a possibility to find a free accomodation for its members all around the world. The aim of the thesis is a content analysis of this social network and examination of its position within an alternative tourism phenomenon, as well as an ethnographic analysis of its member's lifestyle and opinions, based on structured questionnaires and semi-structured and unstructured interviews, and an examination of possible subculture-forming tendencies of this website.
