It also provides an analysis of more recent "catastrophic scenarios" (Laqueur, Spencer, Rodrígez, Sarazin). The Islamic culture within the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue and with the history of Barcelona process of cooperation of the European Union with the South- Mediterranean countries, which culminated in founding of the Union for Mediterranean in 2010, are also included in the chapter. Archetypal narrativisation and it's use in disinformations
Lebduška, Daniel ; Nečas, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis Archetypal narrativisation and it's use in disinformations is to verify the connection between archetypal narrativization and misinformation, to describe which archetypal narratives are most often used by misinformation, to systematize them and then to describe which emotions are targeted by archetypal narrativization in misinformation. This study therefore explores the use of archetypal narrativization as a persuasion technique in disinformation campaigns. Drawing on the concept of archetypes from Jungian psychology and narrativization theory, this research examines how archetypal elements are strategically used to shape and disseminate misinformation. Through a comprehensive literature review and analysis of specific misinformation messages, the study examines the underlying motivations and effects of the use of archetypes in misinformation narratives. By exploiting deeply embedded psychological patterns and collective cultural symbolism, these campaigns seek to manipulate emotions, promote cognitive biases, and exploit social contradictions. The use of archetypes such as hero, villain, and victim allows purveyors of disinformation messages to create compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences and elicit specific responses. The thesis proposing further...

Tabačíková, Kristýna ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Authenticity from the Perspective of BeReal Social Media Users" examines the concept and perception of authenticity among users of the social media platform BeReal. It also focuses on the expression of identity and self-presentation within the platform's environment and investigates the motivations that drive participants in the research to use BeReal. The theoretical part of the thesis delves into the concepts of authenticity, identity, self-presentation, and sharing everyday experiences, providing the contextual framework for the study. The theoretical foundations draw from George E. Newman's categorization of authenticity, Erving Goffman's dramaturgical analysis, the exhibitionist approach to self-presentation, and social photography. The research aimed to explore how BeReal users interpret the concept of authenticity, how it manifests for them, and what it means to them. For this purpose, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted, and the data were subsequently analyzed using thematic analysis. The results revealed that authenticity does not hold significant importance for BeReal users, who primarily use the platform to maintain social contacts. Participants associated authenticity with aspects of ordinariness and non-aesthetics, or as a means of expressing their...

To do this, topics such as the emergence of an eating disorder, content shared during eating disorders, but also changing the content and perception of one's body today have been explored.
Colonial thinking of Czech travellers at the juncture of teh 19th and 20th centuries
Rychnovská, Anna ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Maňák, Vratislav (referee)
The subject of this diploma thesis is to look at the journalistic work of Czech travelers at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries through postcolonial theory, using the example of orientalist Alois Musil. It draws primarily on the psychoanalytic reflections of Frantz Fanon, the essays of Aimé Césaire, and Edward W. Said's conception of orientalism. The subject of the thesis is also to look at Czechoslovakia's "colonialism without colonies", especially through two theories: the non-colonial orientalism of Sara Lemmen and the colonial exceptionalism of Filip Herza. The intention of the thesis is also to mention the history of Czechoslovak colonialism, which forms the context of Musil's work, and to summarize research that focuses on the Czechoslovak image of colonies and the colonized. These serve, among other things, as a point of comparison with the results of the analysis of this thesis. The main aim of the thesis is to find out whether Alois Musil's journalistic work contains stereotypes of colonial thinking, or what specific stereotypes are involved. Critical discourse analysis is used to analyze Alois Musil's newspaper articles, with the aim of critically focusing on the power relations in society that both shape and are shaped by discourse. The aim is to highlight the limiting meanings of...

The methodological part introduces the research method used, which is Berelson's content quantitative analysis, and outlines its basic limitations. The practical part first presents the research itself and its parameters, including predetermined hypotheses and research questions it works with. Subsequently, the results are presented, confronted with the hypotheses, and an answer to the research question is sought. Among the main findings of the practical part of the thesis is the revelation of a...
The digital divide and the spread of the fake news during the COVID-19 pandemic
Misík, Dominik ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
This thesis focuses on two main topics: the digital divide and the spread of misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The theoretical part is dedicated to the first mentions of the digital divide and introduces some of the main people who dealt with this area. The thesis follows up with the measurement and for a better understanding there are presented the data associated with the digital divide in 2021. In the next part, basic concepts from the field of disinformation are described, which are placed not only in a historical context, but also in the current reality. An example could be fake news that appeared during the COVID-19 pandemic. The next chapter deals with defense techniques against disinformation, both domestically and internationally. The results of a global study by the World Health Organization, which investigated ways of obtaining and working with information about the COVID-19 pandemic, are presented at the end of the theoretical part. In the practical part, the findings from this study were applied to the Czech Republic, with the help of a quantitative method in the form of a questionnaire survey with more than three hundred respondents. The obtained data are then partially compared with the results from an international WHO study. The aim is to gain a basic comparison between...
