All´s Well That Ends Well: Architecture of Palliative Care
Vítková, Kateřina ; Sládek, Martin (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
Can architecture ease the departure of people and their loved ones and remove or at least alleviate the stigmatization and taboo of death? The aim of this work is to design an ideal space for palliative care. The aim is not to design another hospice, or home for the elderly people, which has been designed and built more or less enough (see Analytical section). The task I set out was to accommodate this space on the basis of its broad context, to focus on the right urban location, operational content, relationships with and around, linking, opening, ... but also the very idea of death, leaving parting. The theme of palliative care is very complex and societal, which is reflected in its own design, which represents a new model of palliative care architecture. Palliative Care Center.
Project Risk Management in a Selected Banking Institution
Beňovská, Barbora ; Sládek, Martin (referee) ; Doskočil, Radek (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the project of half-automated loan approval process in the bank. The first part consists of theoretical project issues and risk management. Analytical part consists of critical analysis of Sberbank CZ a.s. and describes current practise of loan approval process. In the last part, there is suggested the project for the new approval process (system). The important part of the project is identification and quantification of risks and following proposals for measurements for risk elimination or decrease.
Retail Estate Owner`s Taxation
Studená, Kamila ; Sládek, Martin (referee) ; Svirák, Pavel (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is the taxation of the estate owner. The content of the project is firstly identification with the general tax patterns, thereinafter theoretical analysis of the introduced issues and finally its application on the concrete company. The study should give compact view on the tax liability, as a result of the ownership of the estate.
A summary research report focusing on cumulative effects of social disadvantage on health and quality of life
Hamplová, Dana ; Klusáček, Jan ; Adámková, Věra ; Kudrnáčová, Michaela ; Sládek, Martin ; Sumová, Alena ; Topinková, Renáta
The report assesses the impact of socio-economic conditions on quality of life and health. It draws on both a sociological perspective and sociological indicators (i.e. subjective health, subjective quality of life) and a multidisciplinary perspective and biomedical indicators (i.e. biomarkers). The report documents in detail the differences in health by education and marital status, taking into account the work situation. Significant attention is paid to risk behaviours and sleep patterns.
The role of posttranslational modifications in the molecular mechanism of the circadian clock
Janáčová, Klára ; Sumová, Alena (advisor) ; Sládek, Martin (referee)
The timing of the biological processes of organism is controlled by an endogenous circadian clock. The molecular clock is present in almost every cell and is synchronized with the external environment. The main mechanism of the clock is a transcription-translation feedback loop. The 24-hour circadian rhythm period is provided by reversible posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of the clock proteins and another regulators of the circadian clock. PTMs are further important for clock entrainment, their regulation by metabolic state in the cell, and reciprocal regulation of the circadian clock end cell cycle. Phosphorylation, histones PTMs, acetylation, SUMOylation, ubiquitination, O-linked N-acetylglucosamination and polyADP-ribosylation play a crucial role. The molecular mechanism of the biological clock is an evolutionarily conserved mechanism found in most organisms. This bachelor thesis summarizes the knowledge about the role of PTMs in the molecular mechanism of the mammalian and human circadian clocks. Key words: circadian clock, clock genes, clock proteins, posttranslational modifications

Iontropic glutamate receptors and their RNA processing in the mammalian suprachaismatic nuclei
Kuchtiak, Viktor ; Balík, Aleš (advisor) ; Sládek, Martin (referee)
Suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) are primary center of mammalian circadian rhythms. To maintain a 24 hour period of its rhythms, SCN are synchronized with phase of external environment. Regular changes of light and darkness are known to be the main external synchronizer that determines the period of SCN rhythms. Information about light is being transferred from retina to the ventrolateral region of SCN through excitatory synapses where ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) play a primary role in the signal transduction. Posttranscriptional modifications of RNA can alter the functional properties of iGluRs, thus this process contributes to synaptic plasticity. The extent of posttranscriptional modifications of iGluRs can be in vitro affected by neuronal activity altered by pharmacological manipulation. The aim of this study was to determine possible changes of posttranscriptional modifications of iGluRs in in vivo rat SCN model and how this process can be regulated. RNA posttranscriptional modifications of GluA2 subunit of AMPA receptor (AMPAR) and GluK2 subunit of kainate receptor were assessed using PCR and subsequent sequencing of amplified DNA. Using quantitative PCR, we also determined mRNA expression of GluA1 and GluA2 subunits of AMPAR and the editing enzyme ADAR2 in SCN. Our results showed...
