Statutory and economic transformation of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra

The target of the study was an analysis of the current legal environment of the state contributory culture organizations in the Czech Republic and the options for their transformation into non-profit non-governmental organizations. This was demonstrated on the case of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, a contributory organization. Apart form the analysis of the documents, mainly analysis of semi-structured interviews, inner observations and informal interviews were applied in the qualitative research. These methods were the tool for a conclusion whether the current legal form of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is appropriate or whether there is a more suitable alternative in the current Czech legal environment. The result of the research is its practical application demonstrated on a model transformation of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra into a non-profit organization (a specific type of a Czech non-profit non-governmental organization serving the public interest and/or common good), according to the Act on non-profit non-governmental organizations in its amended version, which is yet to be passed.

Non-profit sector in Vysočina Region and Models of cooperation between Region Vysočina and organizations of non-profit sector

This graduation thesis is focused on area of non-profit sector in Vysocina Region and on relationship between organizations of non-profit sector and Vysocina Region's institutions of public administration and regional authorities. The first chapter of this work brings some theoretical data about three main regulators of life of society. These three main regulators are: Market, State and Non-profit sector. This part of graduation thesis is especially focused on non-profit sector and on models of cooperation between this sector and regional authorities in Czech Republic. The second part contains characterization of development of non-profit sector in Vysocina Region and tries to identify models of cooperation between organizations of non-profit sector in Vysocina Region and regional authorities. For this purpose we used a secondary analysis of older researches and results of our own questionnaire investigation. The final part of this work is focused on field of evaluation of aforementioned researches and presentation of cooperation models, which were identified in relationship between nonprofits and Vysocina Region authorities. At this place we can find several recommendations how improve a quality of relationship and how to start effective mutual cooperation.

Citizens participation on local government in Ústí nad Labem

This diploma thesis is focused on the subject of participative democracy primarily in relation to the direct and representative form of democracy. It introduces theoretically anchored instruments of civic participation in local government, investigates its implementation and character of participation in Czech Republic in general using results of performed researches. These results are then compared with own survey which was executed in the town Ústí nad Labem. The main methods employed in this thesis were analysis of documents and own empirical research using structured interviews and questionnaires. One of outputs of this work is among others list of recommendations for the local government of Ústí nad Labem on how to improve using participative instruments.

Freedom: Development of the Open Society and Support of the Conditions allowing the Development of Freedom as a Basic Principle Leading to Openness

Smyslem navrženého tématu bakalářské práce je vypracování sociologického eseje k fenoménu otevřené společnosti a teoretické zvážení možných cest vedoucích k rozvoji tohoto fenoménu, nebo naopak identifikace jevů, které rozvoji otevřené společnosti neprospívají. Neméně důležitým prvkem práce je také zvážení podmínek vedoucích k rozvoji svobody jednotlivců, která je zde chápána jako možný zdroj budování otevřené společnosti jako alternativního společenského rámce, založeného na širokém společenském diskurzu, jenž by se stal zárukou otevřenosti. Podstatné je vyjasnění vztahů mezi otevřenou společností a svobodou, dále způsobů motivace lidí směrem k otevřenosti. Práce se také zabývá vztahem mezi tržním systémem, svobodou a otevřeností a pokouší se odpovědět na otázku jaký význam by mohla mít svoboda v rámci otevřené společnosti.
