Fan water jets in concrete disintegration
Sitek, Libor ; Martinec, Petr ; Foldyna, Josef ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Bodnárová, L. ; Hela, R. ; Mádr, V.
In this paper, possibilities of high speed water jet technology nowadays usually applied in repair of concrete structures are extended by application of so called fan (flat) jet. In concrete disintegration, one can achieve interesting results by relatively low energy intensity using such jet in co-operation with acoustic pulse generator.
Pulsating rotating waterjet during removing of surface layers
Sitek, Libor ; Bodnárová, L. ; Foldyna, Josef ; Hela, R. ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Paper deals with removing of concrete surface layers by high speed waterjet technology under laboratory conditions. Circumstances of removing of surface layers of various qualities by pulsating rotating jet were studied on concrete specimens. Results are compared to effect of continuous rotating jet on the identical concrete samples under the same operating conditions.
Simulation of transmission of pressure pulsations in high-pressure system
Foldyna, Josef ; Říha, Zdeněk ; Sitek, Libor ; Švehla, B.
The paper presents results of numerical simulation of 3D, unsteady, turbulent flow of compressible water in a high-pressure system equipped with an acoustic generator. The generator vibrates at frequency of 20 kHz with amplitude of 6 µm. Acoustic waves (pressure pulsations), generated in water pressurized to 30 MPa and amplified by appropriately designed liquid waveguide, results in generation of very high velocity pulsations at the nozzle outlet. The influence of various geometrical configurations on acoustic wave propagation in the high-pressure system was simulated and results were verified by laboratory measurement of pressure pulsations upstream to the nozzle exit.
Numerical model of acoustic generator for pulsating water jet generation
Foldyna, Josef ; Říha, Zdeněk ; Sitek, Libor
Simulation of 3D, unsteady, turbulent flow of compressible water and non-compressible air in the high-pressure system equipped with acoustic generator of pressure pulsations. The objective was to simulate processes of generation and propagation of pressure pulsation in the system and subsequent formation of pulsating water jet in the air.
Flow in the nozzle with moving wall
Foldyna, Josef ; Říha, Zdeněk ; Sitek, Libor
The paper presents simulation of 3D, unsteady, turbulent flow of water in the high-pressure nozzle device with moving wall. The wall performs rectilinear reciprocating motion with high frequency and very small amplitude that results in generation of very high velocity pulsations at the nozzle outlet. The pulsations lead to the break-up of continuous jet into regular slugs of water. The objective of the simulation was to verify whether dynamic meshes can be used to simulate above mentioned problem and satisfactory agreement of the simulation and reality can be obtained.
Quality of surface produced by modulated jet
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Machined surfaces can generally be characterized by surface texture or geometric parameters, which may also reflect subsurface features. The paper deals with the determination of quality of bottom surface of the kerf created by modulated jet. The quality of bottom surface of the kerf was examined and compared to that created by continuous jet at the same operating parameters. Shapes and sizes of kerfs created both by pulsed and continuous jets were also studied.
Disintegration of concrete and rocks by modulated water jet: laboratory experiments
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Ščučka, Jiří
Problem of preparation of concrete and rock surfaces before repair using modulated water jet is a subject of the paper. Selected results of laboratory tests of disintegration of various types of concrete as well as rocks are presented and compared with results of concrete and rock disintegration by means of continuous water jet under the same operating conditions.
Modulation of waterjet by ultrasonic: Measurement of dynamic pressure and force effects
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Series of measurement of a dynamic pressure inside the ultrasonic nozzle under its various configurations were performed within the framework of research focused on modulation of waterjet by ultrasonic. Results of measurement are compared and discussed in the paper.
Utilisation of modulated water jets for cleaning and removal of surface layers
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria
A problem of cleaning and removing of surface layers is a subject of the paper. The review of traditional cleaning methods is accompanied with section dealing with cleaning by high speed water jets, and, in particular, by ultrasonic modulated jets. Advantage of using such the jets are presented from booth economical and ecological points of view.
