Values in fairy tale movies

This thesis deals with values in fairy tale movies. Its aim is to explore the possibilities of tracking values in fairy tale movies, because fairy tales serve as an important source of values for a child in the process of socialization. The theoretical part presents basic concepts of values, approaches to film research from a psychological point of view and observes the importance of fairy tales for a child. These topics are connected by socialization of a child and the role of media in adopting of values. Original research consists of content analysis of selected sample of Czech and Czechoslovak fairy tale movies. Certain characteristics, on which we can think about the values expressed in selected movies, are described. The research results indicate a trend of decreasing amount of contained values in fairy tale movies over time. Qualitative analysis examines various tales and describes value characteristics of particular characters in selected movies. Diploma project represents a contribution to the psychology of media and embraces media research as an important part of the socialization process.
Specifics of violence actuation in Quentin Tarantino movies and spectator's reception

This bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of the effect of violent film clips from Quentin Tarantino's films on the audience. It describes the phenomenon of emotions and presents their division, components and newer theories related to them. It focuses on the connection between Quentin Tarantino's personal life and the themes of his films. It identifies two fundamental elements of his work, humour and violence, and examines the ways in which these elements are projected into Tarantino's films. It provides an overview of the basic media theories that explain the effects of media content on the viewer, and presents several contemporary studies on audience reactions to media materials. The research section presents a research design that uses audiovisual excerpts from Quentin Tarantino's films to examine audience perceptions and looks for differences in these perceptions depending on the level of familiarity with and type of relationship to Tarantino's work. It contributes to the field of film psychology by describing the reactions that certain content and elements in specific violent excerpts evoke, taking into account different contexts. Psychological aspects of media use and their effects on emotions Mgr. et Mgr. Mojmír Sedláček Abstract The dimensions of new media, including news websites and social networks, are still not sufficiently explored. The aim of this dissertation was to map the effect of media content on the emotional experience of an individual, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Overview of literature was based on the findings on the impact of media content and focused on the changes in the media environment in the 21st century and cognitivist approaches to emotions with an emphasis on emotion regulation strategies. These, together with changes in emotional experience, were monitored in a quantitative study, during which 166 respondents were shown a stream of six television news reports. In the qualitative part, 14 respondents participated in semi-structured interviews focused on various approaches to the consumption of media content. The results of both studies led to several conclusions: The news content had a negative effect on the experiences of individuals who dealt with subsequent emotions in accordance with their preferred emotion regulation strategies. Specific psychological phenomena of social media influencer's impact

The bachelor thesis focuses on specific psychological phenomena of social media influencers. First of all, it presents possible interpretations of the term influencer according to different authors. Secondly, it is concerned with persuasion and linguistic styles that influencers use to attract their followers. Furthermore, attention is given to aspects acting in relation to an influencer on the part of his followers, such as perception of influencer's popularity, the distinction of parasocial interaction, parasocial relationship and identification, as processes that followers experience through the media persona exposure. The final chapter of the theoretical part and the research project's design connects the effect of an influencer promoting a healthy lifestyle and adolescents' eating habits. Social Support Gained from Social Networking Sites and its Selected Aspects

This thesis examines the role of social networking sites (SNS) in searching social support via sharing posts within one-to-many communication. The theoretical part presents the current body of literature on topics related to SNS usage and social support, and looks at current issues in the field of SNS research. The empirical part focuses on SNS active users aged 18 - 34 years. In focus groups we examine how and when people use SNS relating social support and building social capital. The results are followed by a questionnaire, which examines users' motivation to use one-to-many communication channel and perception of obtained reactions. It also examines which types social support users seek through one-to-many communication and how they perceive the reactions they have received. Presentation of social roles and personal characteristics on social media

This Bachelor thesis deals with the presentation and design of the analysis of social roles and personality characteristics on social networking services in the Czech population. The literary overview part describes the key concepts for orientation in the online environment and briefly characterizes the individual issues of using social networks together with their phenomena. It also presents an overview of selected research from the Czech and foreign academic environment. In the second part, research is proposed to analyze and explain individual phenomena using the personality inventory NEO-FFI with the help of a semi-structured in- depth interview enriched with the method of photo-elicitation, analysis of profiles on different social networks and subsequent comparison of data to verify credibility and authenticity of self-presentation. The aim of the research proposal is to draw attention to the issue of self- presentation and manifestation of individual characteristics in offline and online environments across various social online media and to bring possible solutions. Storytelling as a method of persuasion

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to narrating of stories. The first part sets basic definitions, characteristics and information important for this task. It proceeds with chapters on functions of stories and description of the term "universal myth". It follows with a chapter focused on neurobiological effects on the listener. The second part of this paper is dedicated towards storytelling. Storytelling is introduced as a marketing strategy and a useful technique of persuasion. The thesis presents various applications of stories in the world of marketing, brands and non-profit organizations. This second part contains examples of stories used in marketing and advertising. Third part of this paper proposes an experiment which examines the possible effects of stories onto evaluation of the attractiveness of things, specifically for this experiment we chose paintings. Interindividual differences in emotion recognition

The work deals with interindividual differences in emotion recognition, therefore it first introduces basic emotions, which is the concept used both by a number of studies and test methods looking into the ability to recognize emotions. Subsequently our attention focuses on emotion expressions, particularly the matter of their universality and function. The third chapter is devoted to emotion recognition itself, first to its importance and process and then to differences in this ability, which is the core of the work. What is known about it, however, is based on the traditional basic emotion method therefore the final chapter of the theoretical part aims at some difficulties of this method. The theoretical part is the basis for a design of the quantitative exploratory research whose aim is to look into the link between personality traits and the ability to recognize emotions. Effects of Using Multimedia Technologies on Selected Aspects of Romantic Relationships

This thesis focuses on mapping the action of the multimedia technologies (MMT) on selected aspects of the partner relationship. In the theoretical part the particular components of the relationship (relationship satisfaction, trust, communication and leisure time) and their association with the usage of particular media by partners are described. For the research the mixed methods design was chosen, while in the quantitative part online questionnaire was used, which was filled in by 210 respondents. In the qualitative part semi-structured interviews with three couples were made. The outcome of this thesis is a description of the frequency and ways of using MMT, mapping effects on the relationship and overall evaluation of advantages and disadvantages of using MMT for the relationship. The results showed that partners mainly use MMT to contact the other partner, mainly to express love. Mostly they use chat to contact each other, then phone calls and text messages. As a disadvantage of the mediated communication partners perceive the absence of nonverbal communication and presence of misunderstanding.
