The role of music in everyday life: A study of users of the Spotify streaming platform
Sedláček, Martin ; Skovajsa, Marek (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
This thesis presents music as an object through which the individual regulates their agency to perform activities in everyday life. Specifically, the thesis examines the relationship between listening to music through the streaming platform Spotify and the use of music in everyday situations. It seeks to better understand the ways in which users engage with the platform. The results of the bachelor's thesis are based on a review of relevant literature and analysis of interviews with Spotify users. The results show that the respondents perceive Spotify as a platform that allows them to integrate music more efficiently into their daily lives, even though they were not familiar with or did not use Spotify's features that directly offer users music appropriate to selected activities. Instead, when selecting music, respondents relied on their own practical knowledge of music, which they applied in a variety of ways to everyday situations through the other features that Spotify provides.

Assessment of high school students in computer science education
Círal Sedláček, Martin ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis concerns the assessment and evaluation of secondary school students in computer science subjects in the Information Technology 18-20-M/01 field of study in the Czech Republic. There is no methodology readily available for the teachers of informatics-oriented subjects to assess and evaluate students, and the teachers adapt the assessment to their own needs as well as the conditions of the particular school. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to introduce the issue of assessment and evaluation, based on the analysis of literature on the issue of school assessment and evaluation at secondary schools in IT-oriented subjects. The theoretical part of the thesis describes theoretical knowledge in the field of student assessment and evaluation. The possibilities and types of assessment and evaluation, together with methodological approaches to those, are presented, along with their use, advantages, and disadvantages. The findings are supported by professional literature, and further interpreted. The aim of the practical part is to observe how teachers evaluate students in IT-oriented subjects, what methods and approaches they apply in individual subjects, how they approach the evaluation of the learning outcomes and their students' work. The research was conducted on n = 63...

Interpreting Narrative Techniques in Moby-Dick
Sedláček, Martin ; Procházka, Martin (advisor) ; Robbins, David Lee (referee)
Thesis Abstract The objective of this thesis is to map the narrative strategies of Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. By applying different narrative theories to Moby-Dick, it explores and assesses mainly the narrative reliability (Wayne C. Booth) and the narrative situation (Franz K. Stanzel). Ishmael is generally considered to be an example of an unreliable narrator and in this thesis manifestations of his unreliability are evaluated. Special attention is devoted to the inconsistencies in the narrative (e.g. recurring disappearances of Ishmael, shifts in focus on some of the characters, complete disappearances of other characters) and their treatment, taking the general academic consensus into account. Such phenomena are discussed as deliberately and consciously incorporated into the narrative, rather than being a result of a precipitated writing process. Apart from the formal inconsistencies, the narrative also includes incongruities of thematic nature (e.g. questionable value-scheme according to Rimmon- Kenan). By employing Stanzel's narrative theory, the thesis discusses Ishmael's oscillation between "narrator" and "reflector," with special focus on the dramatic chapters. Using both of these conceptions, Moby-Dick is assessed from two different perspectives, hopefully shedding some light on the complex...
The role of obstructions in the Czech legislative system
Sedláček, Martin ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to describe the use of obstruction mechanisms in the Czech legislative system, where in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, as key legislative institutions of the parliamentary system, has been making massive damages in the form of blocking the negotiation of draft laws for many years. The reasons that led to the Rules of Procedure of the Chamber of Deputies permitting the existence of this phenomenon are not quite obvious, but they are an integral part of the parliamentary culture of our country, which existence is mainly used by the legislative minority. Even though the Rules of Procedure have a clear wording, which allow the existence of obstructions, their use is often considered as unconstitutional, as their use often exceeds the affordable limit. The main objective of this theses is to introduce to the reader all the instruments that help to obstructions and subsequently to show their use in practice during the meetings of the Chamber of Deputies within the last three parliamentary term, including the period in progress.
Design of material flow using discrete event simulation
Seidl, Tomáš ; Sedláček, Martin (referee) ; Škopán, Miroslav (advisor)
The content of this diploma thesis is to create a simulation model of the logistics chain of the production area of an industrial plant in order to design the logic control of material flow. Plant Simulation software from the company Siemens PLM Software is used to create the simulation model. The diploma thesis consists of system analysis of the researched area of the production plant. With the help of the simulation model, simulation experiments and evaluation of the obtained results are made. According to the results, the conclusions are drawn.
Come and kuru: A contrastive analysis of selected verbal constructions in English and Japanese
Sedláček, Martin ; Kanasugi, Petra (advisor) ; Malá, Markéta (referee)
The present BA thesis examines selected English and Japanese constructions consisting of the elementary motion verbs come and kuru, namely the polysemous Japanese construction V-te kuru and its English equivalents come to INF and come V-ing. The thesis adopts the construction grammar approach and interprets the constructions as form-meaning pairings (Goldberg, 1995). This approach allows us to isolate the given construction and search for it in corpus. Since this is not a quantitative but qualitative analysis, the corpus query is not used to mine large quantities of data, but to provide authentic language material. The retrieved data is subsequently interpreted and contrasted, the hypothesis being that there is a substantial convergence between the two languages in the usage of the respective constructions. Following the introduction of the topic and the motivation for the present research (Chapter 1), Chapter 2 outlines the theoretical framework of the present thesis (construction grammar). Chapter 2 also defines the two verbs in question (come and kuru), provides an overview of the research into the selected constructions, and presents the research questions and hypothesis. In Chapter 3 I introduce the methodology of the present thesis (qualitative analysis of the most frequent collocates for...
