Nietzsche's Gay Science and contemporary aesthetics

This bachelor's thesis aims to interpret aesthetic thinking based on Nietzsche's Gay Science within the basic features of his philosophy. At first it reflects both the author's philosophical background, whose significant features are perspectivist pluralism and affirmation of this pluralism, as well as the specific ways in which those ideas are contained in The Gay Science and also through the motif of the death of God. Based on this reflection, the thesis reconstructs author's aesthetic thinking: in which (whether artistic or non-artistic) aesthetic experience is understood by Nietzsche as something that reflects this plurality and affirmation - whether positively, when it affirms, or negatively, when the aesthetic is in danger of becoming a new backworldsmen to which one can turn away after the death of God. Those thoughts are then concretized on examples within various art genres that the author mentions in his book. Disease, Education and Medics: the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Medical Students

In March 2020, the Czech Republic began to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic, a state of emergency was repeatedly declared in the Czech Republic and various measures were taken. These measures included: restrictions on physical (and with it social) contact, restrictions on tourism, business and services, work obligations for students of pedagogical and medical faculties, school closures and the transition to distance learning, and much more. This work is devoted to qualitative research among medical students, whose studies have been significantly disrupted by distance learning, interruption of internships and the announcement of work duties. The main goal of this work is to find out what risks related to the Covid-19 pandemic are perceived by medical students themselves in terms of their studies and future practice? As part of the qualitative research that I will prepare and implement, semi-structured interviews with 6 students of the last two years of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University will be evaluated. Internet slang and its influence on language competences

This thesis focuses on the Internet slang or so-called netspeak and how this type of language manifests itself in various spheres, including the physical space. Physical and virtual worlds are generally considered to be separate and are not ascribed the same value. However, I want to show through my work that these spheres are not only interconnected but they can even be perceived to be equal while taking into account that interactions taking place in the virtual environment cannot be described as less real or valuable. Therefore, the research took place in the Internet environment, which is the homeland of netspeak, and also in the physical space. I specifically observed high school students because these age groups are generally considered the most typical (social) media users, therefore they come into contact with netspeak frequently. The methods of collecting data included non-participant observation in the physical space of classrooms (during lectures and study breaks), and also in a teachers' office, interviews with students in both physical and virtual forms of communication, and analysis of various visual materials. The thesis deals with communication interactions in Montessori schools in Czechia. It describes the specific Montessori approach and the basic principles and tradition of Montessori education. It deals with the concepts of communication and trust elaborated in more detail. The thesis aims at observing how respectful/partner communication is applied in Montessori schools, as this communication helps to build pupils' responsibility and the level of trust. Respectful communication is one of the crucial principles of Montessori pedagogy and is based on the concept of "to respect and to be respected". The thesis lists different respectful modes of communication and the communicative interactions, that build mutual trust between the participants in the communicative acts, used in Montessori schools. A study of the contemporary literature is combined with the knowledge gained ethnographically during a short self-conducted semi-participant observation. The observation was carried out in two Montessori schools - one located in Prague and one in a medium-sized town in Northern Bohemia. The results showed that the respectful communication observed in both Montessori schools builds responsibility and increases the level of trust between the participants in the communicative acts.
Lower secondary school media education: Reflections on available programs and design of new lessons

The aim of the present diploma thesis is to focus on teaching aspects of media education. In the first chapter it defines the term media literacy, presents the conception of this concept by different educational institutions in the international context and compares them with each other. In the next chapter, the Czech concept is introduced and compared with the previous ones. Space is also devoted to the topic of media education, media pedagogy and media andragogy. It is followed by a section dealing with the situation of media literacy in Czech schools in the light of surveys conducted, which focuses on their conclusions. In the next part, the thesis maps the didactic foundations for teaching media education, focusing on two projects dedicated to it. It presents their introduction and compares two specific programmes. It also presents an overview of several other projects that offer didactic support to teachers in teaching media education. On the basis of the identified gaps in the Czech concept of media education, a lesson designed for upper elementary pupils is proposed. The theme of the proposed teaching approach is based on the broader international concept of UNESCO and deals with news values. I, you, we and they: forms of patriotism in teaching materials of the Czech educational system and the Czech classrooms

This thesis focuses on the form of the discourse of nationalism in educational materials, specifically in selected history and civics textbooks for primary schools. The aim of the paper is not to cover all available educational materials in the Czech school environment, but to conduct a probe into textbooks from selected subjects from one publisher, which serves as a sample. There are subtle forms of nationalism that are part of public discourse, and the thesis will map these forms in the textbooks as manifestations of the discourse of nationalism, which seeks to shape national identity, among other things. Therefore, the work follows in these textbooks their language, the topics they choose, the ways in which they report on the topics and the other media they use (e.g. visual documents). The thesis examines the aforementioned elements of the textbooks through qualitative analysis, specifically critical discourse analysis. The main question that the thesis seeks to answer is which discursive means are used to form Czech national identity, and whether this identity also includes an ethnocentric view of the world.
