The effect of size, location and occupancy on air quality of classrooms
Stupková, Kateřina ; Braniš, Martin (advisor) ; Hovorka, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focused on investigation of size differentiated mass concentrations of aerosol in relation with size, location and occupancy of classrooms. The motivation to write this thesis was research of aerosol effects on human health. People in developed countries spend most of their time indoors thus indoor air quality affects their performance, well-being and health. The aerosol particles could be toxic, allergenic and carcinogenic. Higher concentration of particulate matter (PM) could affect performance and well-being of students during lessons. The aims of the study were examination of outdoor/indoor relation of PM according to classrooms locations and occupancy effect on the PM concentrations. Microclimatic and meteorological factors (e.g. temperature, humidity) were also assessed. Measurements were performed simultaneously in three size different classrooms in a building of Charles University in Prague (Benátská 2) and outside the building. The measurements were undertaken during one year, when each campaign contained 3 or 4 days of a month. The occupancy and changes in natural ventilation were monitored in each classroom during every campaign. Cascade impactors Sioutas were used for 24-hours PM collecting. The concentrations were determined gravimetrically. Concentrations of fine...
Three significant trends in young adult literature
Stupková, Kateřina ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Malý, Radek (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis called Three significant trends in young adult literature is to analyse this literary category in the Czech Republic; to describe the publishing houses focusing on this type of literature and to determine, if there are any trends - and if so to describe them. The first chapter states different definitions of so called YA literature and its understanding abroad and in the Czech Republic among the publishers. In the next chapter I characterise the main trends in YA literature that already exist and also those that could emerge, according to literary agents and publishers. In the next part of this thesis I describe three chosen genres: urban fantasy, fairy tale retellings and dystopian novels and I analyse four series determined as typical for respective genres: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Divergent by Veronica Roth. Each analysis is followed by the description of media response to the chosen series. The thesis also includes the interviews with editors from chosen publishing houses focusing on YA literature: Tereza Pecáková from CooBoo, Jakub Šedivý from Fragment, Lucie Kučová from Egmont and Eva Sedláčková and Jiří Štěpán from Host. This practical part is preceded by a theoretical...

Media Response to the Novel Rok kohouta by Tereza Boučková (2008)
Stupková, Kateřina ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
The bachelor diploma thesis Media Response to the Novel Rok kohouta by Tereza Boučková (2008) deals with analysis of this novel - which is written like a diary - and the critical reflexion of its literary and non-literary aspects; also with the response it created by its controversial theme of "unsuccessful" adoption of two children of Romany ethnic group. The practical part uses the method of qualitative analysis to analyse chosen critical reviews and also non-literary responses to the novel. It is preceded by the theoretical part in which we deal with authoress' life and work and put the subsequent analysis of the novel to this framework. The theoretical part subsequently defines a concept of criticism, its recent forms and problems connected with a process of interpretation of literary works. In this chapter we draw from works of Ansgar Nünning et al., Lexikon Literatur- und Kulturtheorie, or Přemysl Blažíček, Kritika a interpretace. In the practical part we analyse the reviews of Rok kohouta which we found in newspapers and magazines Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta DNES, Reflex, Tvar, Divadelní noviny, Host, Týden, Pražský deník, Literární noviny, Instinkt, Respekt, Právo, Nový Prostor and Revolver Revue. Subsequently in this part we deal with non-literary responses, mostly we analyse the dispute...
