Philosophical Aspects to the Conception of Man and Education by Albert Camus

The aim of this bachelor paper is to explore the life and work of one of the world?s most important and controversial philosophers, Albert Camus, in relation to the interpretation of the link between the existentialist conception of a man and the current upbringing conception in the context of social pedagogy. The paper is divided into two main parts. The first part introduces Camus?s highly interesting life considering the fact that his philosophical ideas are often related to important events in his life. This is followed by a brief analysis of Albert Camus´s works. They are classified into developmental stages. Eventually, the views on issues of life and a man are compared in a broader concept of existentialist philosophy In the second part of the paper the author analyses Camus?s concept of relation of man, environment and upbringing. The views on the roles and possibilities of upbringing in the context of life situations are commented. At the same time it is compared to what extent the current content conception of social pedagogy as a theory and practice of helping a man is foreshadowed by Albert Camus´s views as a philosopher and writer. The conclusion of the second part consists of the author´s own research on values among university students majoring in social pedagogy.
