Videopoetry about Czechoslovakia nowadays. Diploma thesis kombines text and video. Texts are based on theoretical axioms and native form of current czechoslovak language. Texts are matched with videosequences of prepared, performed situations and banal, private situations. It works also with themes of deconstruction and construction, which lead to subjective videopoetry.

Space as a Meaning-Making Factor in Children's and Young Adult Literature

This master's thesis, titled "Space as a Meaning-Making Factor in Children's and Young Adult Literature", concentrates on building and projection of literary space in the literature specifically intended for children and young adults. It has literary analytical and literary interpretive character and is based on theoretical works on the topic of literary space. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part covers the theoretical conception of literary space. The second part consists of examinations of literary works, first of the world's classics of children's and young adult literature (The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren, The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, Through a Glass, Darkly by Jostein Gaarder) and then of the works of contemporary Czech children's and young adult literature Lenka a Nelka neboli AHA ('Lenka and Nelka or AHA') by Daniela Fischer, Spící město, Spící spravedlnost a Spící tajemství ('Sleeping City', 'Sleeping Justice', and 'Sleeping Secret') by Martin Vopěnka and Soví zpěv ('Owl's Song') by Iva Procházková. Readiness of Children to Start School in Cesky Brod Region

The diploma thesis concerns with the school readiness issue in region Cesky Brod. High number of children with compulsory school attendance postponement resists these days, which the government decided to solve with compulsory preprimary year implementation. When framework education programs came into force, schools drew up their own school education programs. The basis, with which they enter the school, diversified. The goal of the thesis is to determine the areas in which most children had problems during the first grade enrollments in Cesky Brod region. The readiness of children to enter school is studied also from the parents' and the teachers' point of view and their points of view are compared. The research combines three methods - observation, questionnaire and case history. For the research during the first grades enrollments the observation was chosen. On the basis of the theory the areas for observation were determined and assessed according to the chosen assessment criteria. The points of view of the parents and teachers were examined in the questionnaire. The Problems of Contemporary Society in Movies of Kurosawa Kiyoshi

This Bc. thesis focuses on contemporary cinema work of Kurosawa Kiyoshi (born 1955), in which we may discern themes concerning social issues, especially identity loss, alienation, inability of communication etc. It dwells in the interpretation of five films (Kyua, Ōinaru Gen'ei, Karisuma, Kairo, Tōkyō Sonata), which were made within 1997 and 2008, and attempts at clarification of these problems on the basis of the artworks. Apart from this, the work describes Kurosawa's work in relation to specific genres and evaluates his film career.

The theme of the thesis is based on personal experience. In 2016, I intuitively felt that artists working with thematic themes would start to harden in their approach and make the creation more radical. So I wrote in the bathroom on the mirror the statement FUCK HARDER IN 2K17. It turned out I was right, and indeed 2017 was a sign of radicalism in more directions - from visual art, video clips, music, pop culture to fashion photography. In my work I would like to concentrate on this subject and selected artist from all over the world. Understand your perception of this phenomenon over the current work of selected artists, and on the basis of this you can easily indicate the further development of these artists. The selection of artists will be key to the work and will be intuitive, complemented by interviews with artists. Intuition at work will be the next key to link everything you can imagine.

"Písař Bartleby" v současné kultuře

This dissertation is based on the observation that Herman Melville's "Bartleby, the Scrivener" has become a popular reference in contemporary culture. Not only in the field of literary scholarship but also in the realm of art, political theory and philosophy, it is employed as an example of authentic resistance to power, a counter-intuitive politics that finds its strength in withdrawal, inaction, and inscrutability. The thesis examines the reasons and motives that drive literary scholars, artists and philosophers to read, interpret and use the story in such a way. It does so by analyzing the nature of and reoccurring patterns in Bartleby Industry, the enormous bulk of academic scholarship devoted to the story. It observes how the story is made use of outside of literary scholarship by disciplines, such as art and philosophy, that are not primarily concerned with the literary complexity of the story but use it to work on their own problems of politics and ethics. It pays special attention to its popularity among influential Postmarxist philosophers, namely Slavoj Žižek, Giorgio Agamben and Gilles Deleuze. The Issue of Food in the Work of Kawakami Hiromi

This master's thesis focuses on the issue of food in some selected works by Kawakami Hiromi (born 1958). At first, it attempts to express some characteristic features of modern Japanese cuisine in general, which are closely connected to the creation of the concept of national identity, and to give a summary of works of modern and contemporary Japanese literature in which the topic of food is present. Next, it describes the work of Kawakami Hiromi. After introducing the author's main masterpieces and its typical features, it comes to the interpretation of the selected texts which were published within 1998 and 2010. It interprets the works mainly from the thematic point of view and it attempts to determine connections in which the issue and motifs of food appear. It also studies what role is played by food, eating or cooking in Kawakami's work. In selected translated passages it makes an effort to give evidence of certain elements in her work such as: food as means of befriendment, motif of a skilled male cook, inability to cook, which leads to a conflict in a relationship etc. It compares works in which often appear lonely women protagonists longing for love and in which the real world meets the supernatural or the traditional elements meet the modern ones.
