Development trajectory of such an important geostrategic actor affects dynamics of international system. Today, because of its structural problems, the "Russian Bear" is situated over the imaginary abyss. An important part of the text is a specification of broad implications of this development for the future of the European Union and international system. The first chapter of the thesis is to introduce principles for building scenarios to a reader. Theoretical chapters number two and three describe the influence of specific key drivers upon the country's development. Robinson, Jana ; Romancov, Michael (advisor) ; Jansky, Radomir (referee) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
UNIVERZITA KARLOVA V PRAZE FAKULTA SOCIÁLNÍCH VĚD INSTITUT POLITOLOGICKÝCH STUDIÍ ABSTRACT OF DOCTORAL THESIS GLOBAL SPACE SECURITY AND THE U.S. - CHINA - RUSSIA RIVALRY 2016 JANA ROBINSON 2 ABSTRACT This study concentrates on whether the spacepower projection strategies of China and Russia, as communicated through their actions, key initiatives and public diplomacy positions, will, in the near future, undermine or advance global efforts to preserve the stability of the space environment and sustainability of outer space activities. In order to arrive at key findings, the analysis presented in this study is guided by two theories, the Astropolitik, a well-established spacepower theory of Everett C. Dolman, and the "preventive arms control in space" theory of Max Mutschler. It was concluded that arms control in space will not advance space security and prevent systemic destabilization of the space domain, and formal top-down arms control does not effectively restrain counterspace activities1 . It was likewise concluded that there exists a high probability (i.e. possibly greater than 75%) of near-term space 'incident' among the U.S., Russia and China. To prevent an escalatory spiral leading to conflict in space, the U.S. should continue to engage China and Russia (including in multilateral venues) in an...

Applicability of Systemic Approach to the Analysis of Geostrategic Importance of a Transborder Region: the Arctic Case
Valková, Irena ; Romancov, Michael (advisor) ; Ženka, Jan (referee) ; Landovský, Jakub (referee)
The purpose of this dissertation is to demonstrate a new empirical and systemic geopolitical approach to the study of the ongoing territorial dispute in the Arctic resulting from the desire of two nation states, Denmark and Russia, to extend their own northernmost limits of the Exclusive Economic Zone to the central part of the Arctic Ocean. This approach combines geographic, legal and political analytical perspectives with quantitative research design to produce an inter-disciplinary study. Empirical evidence on the long-term socio-geographic development in the region (1993-2013) is provided together with information on particular territorial gains and losses for all decision-makers that arise in a number of potential scenarios (options). Variation in each decision-maker's aggregate national socio-geographic resource, as implied by particular territorial modifications in the central part of the Arctic Ocean, serves as a basis for derivation of nontrivial payoffs on each option in the dispute. These payoffs are introduced into a three-player graph model for conflict resolution (Denmark, Russia, and the World) and stable dispute solutions are suggested on the basis of different combinations of decision-makers' strategies, whose optimality is evaluated as well. Finally, alternative scenarios of...

We talk about period since 2001 when the party was established until presence (2016). Here are demonstrated concrete examples - for instance how exactly was changed the electorate system in order to advance the United Russia, how is the voting...
