Managerial Competencies in Small Enterprises

The dissertation thesis dealt with the managerial competencies in the small manufacturing enterprises in the Czech Republic. The research aimed to examine the current level of these competencies on the sample of top managers of those enterprises. The chosen topic is topic of current importance due the competency development for enhancing the managerial performance. The thesis elaboration was based on the detailed literature review of national and international publications in the respected scientific journals, and on the in-depth analyses conducted through the primary researches. The main objective of the dissertation thesis was to detect the competency level of top managers in the small manufacturing enterprises in the context of business management and to identify the key variables influencing the discovered competency level and on the basis of research findings provide recommendations for further competency development. The main objective was supported with four partial objectives and five research hypotheses. On the basis of results of executed pilot research on managerial competencies the model of managerial competencies was established, and further verified in the author’s primary research. Within the data analysis and data evaluation, the competency level was formed. The dependences of competencies on examined variables were tested empirically. Those variables were sex, length of current and total practice, age, ownership and education. The aggregated research results were compared with the literature review and based on this comparison, the recommendations for further managerial competency level improvement were provided. The conclusions and further research aims form the integral part of the dissertation thesis.
Impact of recession on implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility

During the last few years, companies have had an increasing interest on playing a more significant role in society, besides their merely economic function. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a relevant concept leading them to do so. However, after the recent economic decline, the business model of most corporations had to be reviewed, including the CSR policy. This dissertation work discusses the impact of recession on CSR. The topic is highly relevant, since the consequences of the economic crisis have still a strong influence on business environment, in the form of a degrading level of trust and a decline of moral commitment to society. In order to evaluate this phenomenon, a research was conducted in three companies that are engaged in long-term CSR. With case study as research method, the impact of recession on CSR has been identified and a trend for future development has been outlined. As one of the main conclusions of this research it was proved, that after the economic decline, rather than dismissed, CSR was re-aimed in a more efficient way. CSR has helped companies to survive better the economic crisis and has taught them, how it can be beneficial not only for business but also for the society.
Methodology of Corporate Social Responsibility Measurement

The starting point of Corporate Social Responsibility is the understanding and the acceptance of fact, that organization is a part of the society, in which it develops its activities. There are many companies, which are conducting in accordance to superior performance of the obligations in the area of social responsibility. These organizations truly think about their surroundings. The problem can occur in the measuring the social responsibility level of each CSR pillars, consisting of economic, social and environment areas. Measurement and evaluation of CSR could be conducted by some exact methods (i.e. standards and norms). In organization is needed to set up measurement mechanisms of all the areas of corporate social responsibility. The organization could use for reporting “structures” of already existing standarts, however the complexity of these standarts is the reason why it is not easy to apply them in the Czech Republic. Fulfillment Business Ethics in ABC Company

The aim of this work is to determine the level of business ethics in the company of ABC. It´s level is determined by comparison with selected aspects of corporate climate. Using the questionnaire are determined range of individual areas, resulting in the identification of critical areas in the company, which serves as the starting point for the proposals to improve the situation. Basis for the design part is enhanced by discussions with management and the author´s observation. The main proposed solution is the implementation of the Balanced Scorecard methodology, whose benefit is the reduction of critical areas to an acceptable level. The author also formed proposals to improve corporate ethics program and actvities in the area of social responsibility.
A Proposal of Changes in Motivation System in the Selected Company

The subject of the thesis is the design of changes in the incentive system in the selected company. Through the analysis of company documents, questionnaires and structured interviews is analyzed the current incentive system and its effect on the level of staff motivation. On the basis of empirical research are elaborated concrete proposals to optimize employee performance, increase the level of staff motivation and thereby strengthening the company's position in the market.
Comparison of CSR Concepts in selected Companies

This diploma thesis focuses on the application of the concept of social responsibility in business practice of the companies ČSOB, a. s., Raiffeisenbank a. s. a Tesco SW, a.s. This application is based on mentioned theoretical foundations and qualitative research. The thesis also analyzes and evaluates the implementation of CSR strategy in chosen companies. The aim is to suggest activities to effective application of CSR philosophy for these companies.
Business Ethics in the Company

The master´s thesis deals with business ethics in business organizations. Theoretical part describes business ethics, its theoretical basis and insurance as a sector in which business ethics will be applied. The practical part analyzes the state of ethical standards in the selected company in the form of a query determines the state of awareness of important ethical regulations. The findings suggest steps to remedy the deficiencies.

This thesis is focused on application of business ethics in business organizations. Theoretical part is concentrate on basic concepts related to business ethics and also to social responsibility of companies. In the empirical part I used questionnaire to determine how examined companies implement this business ethics and in the end of my thesis I suggested recommendation how they could improve it.

The existing communication level of CSR activities is analyzed and evaluated for the purposes of this thesis. The end result represents proposal of communication strategy that make CSR more efficient to the company benefit.
