Optimization of inline coagulation in integrated membrane systems
Pivokonský, Martin ; Prokopová, Michaela ; Dytrych, Pavel ; Krystyník, Pavel
The report summarizes the results of chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation optimisation tests as integrated membrane filtration methods. Optimization tests were performed with filtered water after alkalinisation using jar tests, based on which optimal reaction conditions such as the dose of the coagulation agent and the pH value were found. In addition to removing the non-coagulated portion of dissolved organic substances using electrocoagulation, the conditions for eliminating manganese were also tested.

Prokopová, Michaela ; Paraskevopoulos, Georgios (advisor) ; Kováčik, Andrej (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Supervisor: Dr. Georgios Paraskevopoulos, Ph.D. Author: Michaela Prokopová Title of the thesis: 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose gels with novel polyamidoamine dendrimers for the skin application of Imiquimod Imiquimod (IMQ) is a medicinal substance used in the therapy of skin diseases (carcinomas). IMQ's hydrophobicity does not allow its incorporation in hydrophilic gels, which are the most used gel formulations for topical application. Dendritic molecules, which are highly branched polymers, could potentially increase the solubility of IMQ in hydrophilic formulations for the preparation of more concentrated hydrophilic dosage forms. The purpose of this work was to increase the concentration of IMQ in hydrophilic formulations using dendritic molecules. First, aqueous solutions containing IMQ were prepared, in the presence or absence of different generations and concentrations of dendritic molecules. The pH of the solutions was adjusted to 5,5, which corresponds to the pH of the skin. After that, 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose was used as gelling agent to prepare hydrophilic gels as preferable formulations for topical application. Selected solutions and gel formulations, were used for permeation experiments on human...
Occurrence and removal of polluting organic substances during drinking water treatment
Prokopová, Michaela ; Pivokonský, Martin (advisor) ; Brányiková, Irena (referee) ; Kříženecká, Sylvie (referee)
Water sources pollution by natural organic substances and anthropogenic micropollutants is a global problem with a significant impact on water treatability and drinking water quality. One of the current topics is the proliferation of algal and cyanobacterial cells and the associated release of algal organic matter (AOM). The presence of AOM in drinking water sources can deteriorate the water's taste and odour or serve as precursors of disinfection by-products., especially in the case of a high proportion of the non-proteinaceous AOM, which is difficult to remove by conventional coagulation/flocculation. A part of this thesis is devoted to the composition and characterization of AOM, its chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation, and the assessment of the ozonation of the non-proteinaceous AOM during drinking water treatment. The second part of this thesis deals with the occurrence, characterization and removal of persistent anthropogenic substances, namely microplastics (MPs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), during the drinking water treatment. Based on the results of ozonation of the non-proteinaceous AOM fraction (NP), it was found that ozonation caused a change in the surface charge, molecular weight or partial mineralization of NP, depending on ozonation conditions (O3 dose, pH...

This summary research report was implemented within the project TAČR TJ04000212 program to support applied research ZÉTA „Possibilities of perfluorinated organic compounds (PFCs) removal in drinking water treatment plants and their occurrence in drinking water sources in the Czech Republic“. This report is addressed to water treatment plant operators and serves as a basic material for optimizing the coagulation / flocculation and adsorption process in water treatment. The report explains in detail the issue of removal of perfluorinated organic substances (PFCs) in water treatment, especially the process of adsorption in pilot plant conditions. This report will be used as a theoretical basis for the operation of the water treatment plant in Kutná Hora operated by the Water Management Company Vrchlice - Maleč, a. s.
Coagulation optimization of the wastewater effluent at the Podlázky, Kvasiny and Solnice wastewater treatment plants
Pivokonský, Martin ; Čermáková, Lenka ; Prokopová, Michaela ; Pivokonská, Lenka
The presented report deals with the characterization and optimization of coagulation of wastewater effluent from three wastewater treatment plants – Podlázky WWTP, Kvasiny WWTP and Solnice WWTP, which are to serve as a source of raw water for process water production for Škoda auto, as. The report is designed as a basis for implementation of pilot tests and subsequent design of the technological line of the planned water treatment plant, where coagulation and subsequent separation of the suspension by flotation is planned as the first stage of water treatment.

Problems in prevention of vitamin D and calcium deficiency in geriatrics
Prokopová, Michaela ; Vágnerová, Tereza (advisor) ; Kvasničková, Ivana (referee)
Vitamin D and calcium are essential for the health of the elderly population. Due to the changes that occur in the body during aging, it is necessary to monitor the intake of these micronutrients and, if necessary, to supplement or substitute them appropriately. This thesis focuses on prevention of vitamin D and calcium deficiency in old age. The theoretical part explains the function of vitamin D and calcium in the human body, their metabolism, sources and problems of deficiency or excess. There is information about diseases related to the deficiency, especially osteoporosis and sarcopenia. The practical part has two sections. The first analyses the data from the SPRINTT trial. Data related to vitamin D, calcium, their supplementation and sarcopenia, as a disease associated with vitamin D deficiency, were used. The second section analyzes the data from a questionnaire survey in nursing homes, which obtained information about the health of seniors, the frequency of consumption of selected foods and vitamin D and calcium supplementation. Using data from the SPRINTT, it was found that 55 % of men and 40 % of women had the values of sarcopenia. 11 % of the participants had vitamin D deficiency. The data from the questionnaire found that only 51 % of respondents over the age of 70 supplemented with...

The report describes the assessment of the sludge formation and separation technology at the WTP Tlumačov in two measuring cycles (summer 2020 and spring 2021) in profiles: i) aeration, ii) effluent from the reaction tank, iii) flocculation, iv) sediment inflow, v) after sedimentation, vi) inflow to filtration, vii) after filtration, on the right and left line of ÚV Tlumačov. The report assessed the quality of raw and treated water and the effectiveness of destabilization and aggregation. The preparation of the suspension in the phase of fast and slow mixing and separation of flakes were evaluated. Aggregation tests (sedimentometric analysis) were used for this purpose.
