Mathematics in Japanese schools

Title: Mathematics in Japanese schools Summary: The main objective of bachelor work is to describe and compare Japanese and Czech education (with an emphasis on mathematical education). The work consists of two main parts. The introduction is dedicated to Japanese education, its history, current situation and to the role of student and teacher in the Japanese society. The main part presents various methods of teaching, which are used at primary and secondary schools in Japan. It also describes a phenomenon called "Lesson Study" and its impact on improving teaching. The Japanese school curriculum is also compared to the Czech educational framework programme in this part. The conclusion emphasise the achievements of Japanese mathematical education and students' motivation for this subject.
