Relevance of Lonergan's theory of understanding for the method in theology
Regner, Jan ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (referee)
The aim of the paper called "Relevance of the Lonergan's Theory of Understanding for the Method in Theology" is to present the contribution of the Lonergan's original epistemological studies for a method, not only in theology. In the base of the paper, there are a question how much is important or even necessary for theology to consider its own methodology in the context of interdisciplinary dialog between philosophy, theology and natural sciences. Lonergan's Transcendental Method is based on his epistemological understanding, especially his so called "Cognitive Structure". He describes our cognitive operations and classifies them in several levels. First three are empirical, intellectual and rational. According Lonergan, from the last level we normally move to ethical campus. Then he realizes that in human lives there are phenomena which we could call intellectual, moral or religious conversions. These are fundamental for the Transcendental Method. Lonergan then defines eight steps of the Method: research, interpretation, history, dialectic, foundations, doctrines, systematics and communications. Some critics object that Lonergan's methodological investigations are too general to be a theological method. Nevertheless, we have to recognize his inspiring attempt to find an adequate way to do...

Beránková, Jana ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (advisor) ; Vopřada, David (referee)
The mystery of Jesus Christ's life in reflections of guests and staff of Radio Proglas The thesis is written at the Department of Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology of Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague under the lead of prof. Ctirad V. Pospíšil, Th.D. The main source of author's research is the collection of 230 minutes of Radio Proglas programme called "Myšlenka na den" (The Thought of the Day). This collection is analyzed form the point of the view of Christology and soteriology. The second source is the theological literature, especially the prof. Ctirad V. Pospíšil's monography Jesus of Nazareth, Lord and Saviour, which is used as the theoretical base of the thesis. This theoretical base is illustrated by appropriate texts from the programme "Myšlenka na den". "Myšlenka na den" is the everyday programme: a reflection, where its author contemplates and comments the events of the civic and liturgical year. It is a personal reflection of people of Christian faith. The authors of "Myšlenka na den", guests and staff of Radio Proglas, are in 90 per cents of Roman Catholic confession. Among them are bishops, priests, laypersons with basic or higher theological education. Radio Proglas has the ecumenical dimension. Therefore the programme is also prepared - in appropriate proportion -...
A Critique of New Atheism
Dravecký, Pavol ; Bouma, David (advisor) ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (referee)
A Critique of New Atheism London buses with atheistic banners in January 2009 were only one instance of an emerging stream of "new atheists" who in the name of Science proclaim the end of God. This thesis shall first present a twofold critique of the foremost activist of this movement, Richard Dawkins and his central volume "The God Delusion", so that it eventually looks for an explanation for his surprising success. It will conclude that in spite of his boldness, Dawkins fails to present reasonable criticism of Christian theism. Since his popularity cannot be ascribed to any relevant innovative thought, its roots must probably be found in certain aspects of our time and perhaps in an inadequacy of the language of the Church. Keywords: Atheism, Richard Dawkins, Existence of God, Christianity, Fundamental Theology

Dörrová, Irena ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (advisor) ; Salvet, Ondřej (referee)
With Dr. Ph Josef Čeněk of Wartenberk, auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Hradec Králové, later of Salzburg, we find ourselves in the Austrian Empire, at the time of Josephinism, in a turbulent era of the first half of the nineteenth century. Josef Čeněk enters actively into the era of national revival, when it is possible for him to publish several volumes of his Sermons in Czech language, in order to shape believers and bring them to deeper knowledge of the Catholic faith. In this work, we follow his concept of Christology and Soteriology, how he understands the person of Jesus Christ and how he presents him to believers. Ecclesiology of Antonín Salajka (1901-1975) The following work presents an ecclesiological analysis of the publication by prof. Antonín Salajka (1901-1975). In the first part, it submits the biography of the author. This author was the first czech catholic priest laureated in Pontifical Institute of Oriental Studies in Rome (in 1930). In the second part, it closely inteprets the very ecclesiology of the author itself. Salajka - theologist is introduced from several perspectives as well. First we supplied a suggestion for periodization of his scientific work. There we proposed two periods in congruence with a paradigm change of ecclesiastic-social circumstances, including changes of theological studies, which evidently affected our author's life and scientific work. The two proposed periods are: (1) 1930-1950, i.e. scientifically paramount and fundamental; (2) 1950-1975. Further, we introduced areas which fell under Salajka's interest: unionism, eastern christian churches and the problem of christian unification, eastern dogmatic theology, Church Slavonic, the study of christian East, dogmatic theology, so called theologia comparata, but also ecumenism, theological realisation, method in theology, fundamental theology, moral theology, last but not least pedagogical activity. The main subject in his...

Jež, Praha 2014 Keywords philosophy of theology, systematic theology, history of the Czech theology Abstract This thesis describes the path of philosophy of religion in the 20th century.
