Development of modern visual communication in Czech, German and Austrian metropolises with a regard on accessibility

Development of modern visual communication in Czech, German and Austrian metropolises with a regard on accessibility The thesis deals with the contemporary visual communication in cities. First part is dedicated to the historical development of this discipline and notes the personalities who shaped it. Next part focuses on theoretical background and graphic elements of visual communication with a focus on accessibility. The main part is devoted to a detailed examination of selected elements of visual communication: unified visual style, wayfinding systems on the surface and in the subway. These elements are examined on the example of the capitals of the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. In conclusion, the acquired knowledge is used for analysis of wayfinding signs in the newly opened metro stations in Prague in 2015.

Name of the thesis: Hotel Thermal and the problem of heritage preservation of buildings constructed in the second half of the 20th century
 Abstract:
 The student will work on a monograph of the hotel Thermal in Carlsbad, especially emphasising the development of its perception and evaluation in a broader social context and its related issues of heritage preservation. She will clarify the circumstances which lead to the decision to build a big festival and conference hotel with an outside swimming pool right in the historical environment of the city. Not only she will set the hotel in the context of the work of architects Věra and Vladimír Machonin, but she will also evaluate the hotel as an architectural unit and compare it to the style of architecture in the second half of the 20th century. Aside from the usual art-historical methods, she will also use the oral history method by utilising testimonies of direct participants in the planning and the construction of the hotel, especially of the architect Věra Machoninová. Furthermore she will reconstruct the development of the appreciation of the hotel by professionals and the public since it's completion until today. Parallel to that, she will focus on how the hotel was used in late socialism and during the rapidly changing property and economical conditions...
Josef Max a Czech Sculpture during the 2nd third of 19th Century.

Bibliographic Citation Josef Max and Czech Sculpture in the Second Third of the 19th Century [manuscript]: Bachelor's Thesis / Adam Hnojil; Thesis supervisor: PhDr. Milan Pech, Ph.D. Prague, 2016, 225 p. Anotation This monographic study aims to describe and interpret the sculpture work of the leading Czech artist from the second third of the 19th century. The thesis is focused on his life and work in the context of the late neoclassicism and romantic historicism. In the first part the author is analyzed within the framework of the Czech art history. Follows the discussion of the stylistic ambiguities of the artistic pluralism of the 19th century, which is causing problems with clear definition of styles up to these days. The very core of the work lies in a biographical study reflecting the life of the North Bohemian native and his most important works, among which the most prominent are the memorial sculptures in the Czech lands and abroad. Typology of totalitarian art

The dissertation work deals with the organization of artistic life in the context of totalitarian regimes and its reflection in the Czech lands with the attention to fine arts education. It defines two types of artistic education - academic and modernistic. Significant interest is modern art infiltration into a cultural field in connection with social changes of interwar Russia and Italy. Historical research, Pierre Bourdieu's analytical approaches, analysis of Czechoslovak cultural, fine art and fine art pedagogically oriented magazines printed between 1919 - 1939 are the methods used for searching information. In terms of possibilities in Russia the biggest independence appeared in graphic design as means of modern visualization. However, the artists reached the position in the artistic field and following token power by taking social posts, especially teaching jobs, and often at the expense of their own espression. Italian authors voluntarily adapted their modernist creation to political development. Forms of their styles were much wider. The avantgarde quite smoothly managed to integrate into official culture. The most significant examle is aeropittura, which encouraged the cult of modern technologies and military power of fascistic Italy, and also which fluently continued in futuristic basis....

The thesis will focus on period of the 5th Topič Gallery (Topičův salon) in the period 2008 - 2014, which was led by a big art enthusiast and philanthropist Mr. Pavel Vašíček. It will deal with broad historical context of the gallery, which was reopened in 2008. There has not been done any research into the topic yet. The thesis will be based on accessible archive documents, oral history, exhibition reviews and exhibitions catalogues. Canon of Czech modern art

The thesis deals with the formation of the canon of Czech modern art during the 20th century based on the analysis of art groups Osma, Skupina výtvarných umělců and Tvrdošíjní and their time. Every artist becomes an object of interest of art historian right after he creates an artwork. The art historians are trying to classify him and put him into the story of art history. The concrete interpretation of the artist and his artwork depends on different circumstances and always reflects the period, when it has been created. It is affected by social and political situation, preferred art historian approach, possibility of artworks reproduction, used terminology and stereotypes. Osma, Skupina výtvarných umělců and Tvrdošíjní has been chosen because their activity is connected with the origins of Czech modern art and the activity of their members is often reflected in the art historian literature. The chase of social-political situation during the 20th century allows naming also other topics that have influence on the form of the Czech modern art. The thesis analyses important exhibitions held between the years 1935-1998 and the survey literature written in the same time. Ludmila Jiřincová and her illustrations of the 19th and 20th century Czech poetry

v anglickém jazyce Abstrakt This thesis describes life and work of Ludmila Jiřincová. She was a czech illustrator, painter, graphic and pedagogue. Thesis includes description of her illustration of czech poetry of the 19th and 20th century, especially illustration of poems written by Karel Hynek Mácha, Karel Jaromír Erben and Jaroslav Seifert. Thesis contains three main parts. The first part describes cultural-historical background of Ludmila Jiřincová's life, which was almost the whole 20th century. The second part of the thesis includes work of Ludmila Jiřincová in the area of czech poetry of 19th and 20th century. There are mentioned illustrations made by Ludmila Jiřincová to poems of Karel Hynek Mácha, Karel Jaromír Erben and Jaroslav Seifert. The third part presents her position in the area of czech art in the second half of the 20th century. There are also described expositions of Ludmila Jiřincová. Nude through the lens of two male photographers and two female photographers: Jan Saudek, Robert Vano, Tereza of Davle, Michaela Brachtlová Presented diploma thesis deals with display of the female and male nude in photography from the perspective of four selected photographers, which are Jan Saudek, Robert Vano, Tereza of Davle and Michaela Brachtlová. This work is mainly focused on their photographic work, which is primarily focused on this photographic genre.The purpose of this work is to compare and evaluate the similarities and differences in the display of naked male and female body by the lens these men and women. I will focus on the issues of eroticism, vulgarity or influence a sexual orientation to above mentioned artists on their photographic work. The work will contain an interview with these artists and artist.
The National Memorial Vítkov, The Art and Politics

The Bachelor thesis entitled The National Memorial on the Vítkov Hill explores the intersection between the Memorial's artistic décor and politics. The Memorial represents a significant architectonical work of the 20 th century. Nevertheless, the political context of building construction as well as the influence of political situation at that time on the Memorial's décor are no less important. The thesis aims at studying the art reflections on ideas legitimizing the political power within the Memorial's area. The Bachelor thesis will deal with street furniture in Prague. Attention will be focused on contemporary production of street furniture. What is its role in context of shaping public space and how it is now perceived by the public. Its individual elements will be discussed. I attempt to map the current situation in Prague by providing a detailed analysis including various points of view.
