The right of a child to participate in the custody proceedings
Bredová, Kristýna ; Matulayová, Tatiana (advisor) ; Pazlarová, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the child's rights to participate in the custody proceedings - a highly relevant topic that has become very visible among the professionals in the field. They are exerting pressure on its wider application while also recognizing potential pitfalls. The aim of this research is to find out how Prague social workers from the Social and Legal Protection of Children handle the child's participation in custody proceedings in concerns of care for minors related to their parents' divorce. The data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with seven social workers - guardians from different workplaces of the above-named body. The data was analysed using open coding, typical for grounded theory. The results suggested that guardians agree on the procedures by which they fulfil the child's right to participate. First, they decide whether the child's participation is appropriate or not, but they recognize that they always try to mediate the child's participation in the proceedings if they will not suffer greater harm. The way how they include them depends on the circumstances of the given case and according to their value system.
Children and adolescents in the schools educational institutions in the socio-psychological and the legislative context
Petruželová, Irena ; Pazlarová, Hana (referee)
School educational institutions have long taken care of the education and re-education of delinquent children and adolescents with compulsory institutional or protective education or of children who are placed here voluntarily with the consent of the person responsible for education. This care, for morally disturbed and socially disadvantaged youth, has a tradition of almost two centuries in our country, during which it has undergone complex development and verified decades of proven improvement. Today we can state that until recently this system followed the traditional pattern of work with this clientele and continuously developed it so as to best accept and respond to the current problems of our youth. At present, however, due to changes in legislation, the system of this care is changing significantly. However, the complex effects of these changes are often not well thought out and taken into account.

The work shows presently practiced legislative procedures focused on the mechanics of their departure from children's homes, wherein I also added space for topics related to their subsequent social support. Similarly, there's also a description of the entities aiding in this stage of the transition. In a segment of the empirical section, with the usage of interviews, I took the liberty to propose changes to above mentioned legislation and with the aid of questionnaires I came to conclusions about their functionality and attainability.
