The pre-service chemistry teachers' professional vision development
Honskusová, Linda ; Rusek, Martin (advisor) ; Škoda, Jiří (referee) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
Teachers' ability to reflect on teaching is one of the essential attributes that enhance the quality of teaching. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on teachers' professional development and cultivate their professional vision (PV) over a long period of time. PV is an important set of discursive practices that enable one to see a meaningful event and is associated with selective attention and knowledge-based reasoning. This dissertation focuses on three main objectives: (1) to describe current findings on PV development in teachers and to select the means by which PV will be developed in prospective chemistry teachers, (2) to identify the PV skills of chemistry student teachers and the factors that influence its development, and (3) to suggest appropriate teaching innovations. In order to determine the degree of PV development of future chemistry teachers and the possibility of developing it through systematically guided reflections, students' input and output written reflections were analysed using a methodology based on Sherin and van Es (2009) and supplemented with information from a questionnaire of personally perceived teacher proficiency. Influencing factors were identified through semi- structured interviews. The research was conducted on three groups of Chemistry student teachers of the...
The Human Colon and the Variability of its Microbial Colonization from Adaptations to Different Environmental Conditions
Peterová, Lucie ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
This bachelors's thesis focuses on the study of the human large intestine and the variability of its microbial colonization in relation to different environmental conditions. The human large intestine is considered to be a dynamic ecosystem that is populated by a diverse community of microorganisms known as the gut microbiome. The gut microbiome plays a key role in host physiology, influencing digestion, the immune system and energy metabolism. This thesis summarizes the current state of knowledge in the literature regarding the human large intestine and its microbial population, focusing on the adaptation of the intestinal microbiota to different environmental conditions such as diet, antibiotic use and disease occurrence. It also analyses the impact of lifestyle and environmental factors on the gut microbiota, including the effects of stress, physical activity and geographical location. The thesis provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of the gut microbiome and highlights its importance in maintaining human health. The variability of microbial colonization of the gut is a fascinating phenomenon that deserves careful study and understanding. Understanding these processes may contribute to the development of new strategies for maintaining and restoring a healthy gut microbiota that could...
Research Trends in Cell Biology Education
Horníček, Jan ; Vojíř, Karel (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
Cell biology is a scientific field that brings concepts, the knowledge of which is a essential for understanding the laws of life.It focuses on studying the cell as a fundamental building and functioning unit composing all living organisms For this reason, this bachelor thesis focuses on articles that analyze the didactics of cell biology and were published in the Web of Science database between 2018 and 2022. A total of 53 articles were selected. However, 28 of them were scientifically advanced texts that were not related to education. A total of 25 articles that dealt with the didactics of cell biology were analyzed. The main topics of those articles that were analyzed were teaching methods, misconceptions in cell biology, laboratory methods and procedures, visualization of cell biology topics, alternative classification systems, distance learning, concept maps, inquiry-based learning, role-playing, and cell biology topics projected into practice. The main conclusion is that the articles primarily focus on the tertiary level of education. Only marginally, 2 of the articles mention teaching at the secondary level of education. Misconceptions in cell biology are not represented in large numbers and truly new teaching methods are not represented. It would be useful to expand the database of...

Of all the connections between lifestyle and the immune system, this work devotes the most space to nutrition. The practical part of the work includes the design, implementation and evaluation of project teaching in the scope of four lessons at the 2nd grade of the elementary school in Radonice. I designed the project called "How to support immunity" as a project intended to be implemented within the subjects of the Human and health education area and is included in the 6th grade. It is a year-long project that requires the creation of several working groups. The duration of the project is one teaching day (four teaching hours). The goal of the project is to connect knowledge of practical principles of life management to support the optimal function of the immune system in everyday life, as well as the development of competencies such as the ability to search, sort and present information and collaborate on a common task. Development of Reading Literacy of Students in Biology Teaching at Lower Secondary School
Vávrová, Gabriela ; Vojíř, Karel (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
Reading literacy is indispensable literacy for every individual on his way through education and his future full-fledged application in everyday life. Each state aims to increase the level of educational attainment in the country. To develop pupils' reading skills can help them to achieve better results in education, including in science education. For the possibility of developing reading skills, it is necessary to map their current situation in elementary schools. The aim of this work was to map the reading skills of pupils in the teaching of biology at the lower secondary school. For this purpose, a set of six worksheets containing three-tier tasks was created and was solved by 110 pupils in the lower secondary school. When creating the three- tier tasks, the author relied on the theoretical starting points of this work, which include the issues of scientific literacy and reading literacy, including the results of Czech pupils in the tests on literacy skills, the Czech curriculum system and the typology of learning tasks. From the evaluation of the worksheets, it was found that the students answered all the questions from the set of worksheets with an average success rate of 57 %. According to gender, the success rate difference was statistically insignificant.
