Image Processing for Optimal Focusing of Light Microscope
Kvašňovská, Petra ; Procházková, Jana (referee) ; Štarha, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is a selection of appropriate parameters to gauge image sharpness. The thesis contains the mathematical theory needed to solve this issue. Picture digitalization necessary for working with an image on a computer is also described. The outcome of the thesis is a method, using which the positions of optimally sharpened test images of objects observed by a light microscope were found.
Artificial method in medical image processing
Tree trunk detection and recognition in images
Šalomon, Filip ; Hoderová, Jana (referee) ; Procházková, Jana (advisor)
This thesis deals with detection of circular shapes in images -- forest scan cross-sections. Freeman chain code algorithm is used for image segmentation. Ransac (Random Sample Consensus) algorithm is used for diameter measurement. The designed algorithm is tested on data from Žofín Forest.
Effect of pathogens on the vaginal microbiome
Procházková, Jana ; Tachezy, Jan (advisor) ; Smutná, Tamara (referee)
The human body is heavily populated with a wide variety of microorganisms. These microorganisms form coherent communities, which in contact with specific human organs form microbiomes. Each microbiome is unique in its composition. The study of microbiomes enables us to describe their composition and to understand the complex interactions that occur between microorganisms and humans. Methods of microbiome analysis are constantly evolving. For example, next-generation sequencing is currently the most widely used method for the characterization of microbiomes. Bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus are the major component of a healthy vaginal microbiome in most women. A healthy vaginal microbiome is essential for maintaining the natural homeostasis and to assure a proper functioning of the female urogenital tract. Lactobacillus is also important for the protection of the vagina from pathogenic agents such as viruses, bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes. In this bachelor's thesis the major pathogens of the Bacteria and the Eukaryota domain are described. Hereby a particular focus is on Trichomonas vaginalis, which is the most prevalent pathogenic agent of the female urogenital tract worldwide. Studying the immunity of the vaginal microbiome to this parasite is therefore essential. Furthermore, the mechanisms of...
Secondary school students' misconceptions about organization and function of human body
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Jana
In the diploma thesis, misconceptions in the curriculum of human biology in the third and fourth grades of four-year grammar schools were ascertained by means of a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was filled in by 92 pupils who had already gone through the thematic unit of human biology. The questionnaire was focused particularly on the circulatory, excretory and respiratory systems. After evaluating the questionnaire, specific misconceptions were identified, especially in the circulatory system. Based on the identified misconceptions, a methodological material was created, which should help to eliminate them in teaching. In one case, the methodological material was verified in practice at the grammar school and in the other case at the MS Teams through so-called focus groups.
Body Image and body dissatisfaction
Procházková, Jana ; Maulisová, Alice (referee)
Title: Body image and body dissatisfaction Author: Mgr. Jana Procházková Department: Department of Psychology, Charles University, Faculty of Arts Abstract This thesis deals with the topic of body image and bodily dissatisfaction with a focus on gender aspects, weight problem, obesity and eating disorders. It has two main parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part focuses on the term body image as a psychological concept that is a component of self- concept. For that reason, there is a definition of the overall self-concept and the difference between the real self and the ideal self. This part of the thesis stresses out the theoretical basis of the term. An important part is a chapter describing factors influencing a development of the bodily self-concept that influences the development and extent of bodily dissatisfaction. I talk about the current western society and its high standards on a physical appearance for both men and women. The thesis then deals with possible consequences of this dissatisfaction on human behavior, again with respect to the gender differences. The thesis also mentions human sexuality that is related to one's relationship with their own body. I talk about the eating disorders and obesity problems. In the end of the theoretical part there are some possibilities for...
