Characterization of Mechanical Properties of semi-IPN Hydrogels Based on Poly(vinylalcohol)
Přibyl, Jiří ; Pekař, Miloslav (referee) ; Kalina, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of mechanical properties of semi-IPN hydrogels based on poly(vinylacohol). The prepared poly(vinylalcohol) hydrogels were modified by the addition of sodium alginate, dextran, DEAE-dextran, chitosan, and poly(ethyleneglycol). The mechanical properties were studied by various methods, such as the oscillatory amplitude rheological test, dynamic mechanical analysis, swelling experiments and drying characteristics. Microcalorimetry was used to study the interactions between poly(vinylalcohol) and biopolymers in solution using the ITC method and the morphology of prepared hydrogels was visualized using cryo-SEM. The main concept for semi-IPN hydrogels is that there is minimal influence on the mechanical properties but leads to the modification of the binding sites present in the hydrogel structure, which has a high potential in transport properties. From the experimental results, the effects of each biopolymer on the mechanical properties were determined. The obtained results showed that the additions of biopolymers do not have a significant impact on the mechanical properties of PVAl hydrogels, but in the case of swelling experiments, there is a significant influence of the number of freezing/thawing cycles, ionic strength of the environment, and the used biopolymer.
Adhesion of the Hydrogels based on Poly(vinylalcohol)
Přibyl, Jiří ; Trudičová, Monika (referee) ; Kalina, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis was focused on the study of adhesion properties of hydrogels based on polyvinyl alcohol using a rheometer. The used hydrogels were divided into three groups, physical, chemical, and modified with starch, PEG or gelatin. Subsequently, the adhesion properties of the hydrogels were determined using a pull off test measured on a rheometer. From the experimental results, the dependences of the adhesion properties on various parameters such as concentration, molecular weight, freezing / thawing process, amount of glutaraldehyde addition and on the type and ratio of added additive were determined. From the following results, it was found that starch is suitable as an additive for increasing the adhesion properties, and on the other side, PEG can be used to reduce the adhesion properties.
Heuristic strategies of mathematical problem solving on lower secondary school
Přibyl, Jiří
The dissertation thesis deals with mathematical problem-solving at lower secon- dary level, as viewed from the perspective of heuristic strategies. The aim of the thesis is to comprehensibly summarize the results of research which began in 2012 and runs until now. The results concern both with theoretical and empirical parts of our research. This research study was conducted in fifteen lower secondary and upper secondary classes. Three dimensional classification of use of heuristic strategies and the structure of heuristic strategies' characteristics were developed by the author, and these constructs are presented in this work. The theory of mathematical problem and mathematical problem solving method is an integral part of this thesis too. Furthermore, the author presents a summary of all strategies used in the experiments; each strategy is fully described and illustrated by an appropriate example. The results of several short-term research studies (three months) and a longitudinal research study (sixteen months) are analysed in the empirical part of the thesis. This part also strives to find answers to several research questions, e.g.: " Could certain strategies be taught in a short-term period (three months)?", " Which strategies are suitable for an average pupil?" or " Are the pupils able to...

Reporting
