Phenomenon of Private Elementary Schools - New Trend in Education?
Cabalková, Anna ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Pýchová, Silvie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the situation of emerging private elementary schools in the Czech Republic. As this is a new phenomenon, only recognised in the past few years, there is little detailed evidence that would provide the necessary information about these schools; such as what kind of schools are registered and why they were created. This paper aim is to identify and describe the main types of these schools and understand their functions. The first part is to comprehend the shift in education and stress out the influence and role of new actors. This is achieved through providing the different perspectives on education and through description of supply and demand for education. This new phenomenon is also supported by the Theory of Exit, Voice & Loyalty which explains behaviour of private school's initiators and founders. The thesis also examines different authors' and publications' views on alternative and traditional schooling, private, public and non-public schools and the difficulties in comparison across different educational systems. The practical part and its research offers systematic and objective evaluation of the new schools being established and how they work. It also presents possible reasons for the rise in the number of new schools and, what implications this phenomenon can...
Equalising opportunities for pupils in the Czech educational system through the work of social pedagogues, social workers and other street-level bureaucrats.
Halaštová, Eliška ; Pýchová, Silvie (advisor) ; Kohoutek, Jan (referee)
This thesis discusses the possibilities of support for socially disadvantaged pupils in Czech primary schools by street-level bureaucrats in order to equalise their educational opportunities. Using a questionnaire survey, the thesis searches answers to the questions of what the support of disadvantaged pupils in Czech schools looks like, what organisational placement of street-level bureaucrats within the system can be effective for such support, and what support is appropriate for street-level bureaucrats themselves to perform their role well. The sub-results of the thesis are then claims that social pedagogues and social workers in schools, as well as social and other service workers outside schools, perceive support for disadvantaged pupils as part of their work and strive for it. A model of support inside and outside schools and effective collaboration between these actors therefore appears ideal. The fulfilment of the common goal of street-level bureauctrats is often hampered by inadequate working conditions, which should be systematically improved in order to improve the quality of line workers' work.

In recent years, the topic of people's employability on the labour market has become increasingly important in the context of its dynamic transformation due to globalisation and technological progress. Surprisingly, this topic is currently not very resonating among the actors in the Czech Republic and is not considered as a priority of educational policy, even though it is a major focus of European educational strategies. The objective of this dissertation is to gain insight into the beliefs held by the actors in the Czech educational system regarding the topics addressed by career guidance. The dissertation uses data from the 2019 Delphi survey among the actors in education and applies a phenomenographic approach for its secondary analysis. Based on The Advocacy Coalition Framework, this thesis also aims to discover if it is possible to identify certain opinion groups among these actors. The result of this research offers a map of actors' perceptions on this issue. At the same time, it shows that there are at least two large groups of actors whose views have significant disagreements based on their core beliefs. The output of this dissertation also provides...
