Scoria cones on the Moon: morphologies, distribution, and mechanism of their formation
Novotný, Radek ; Brož, Petr (advisor) ; Tomek, Filip (referee)
The recent observations of the Moon show, that there was long-lasting volcanic activity on the lunar surface, that left many volcanic features behind. These features are in the form of lunar seas, which are covering thousands of kilometers wide impact basins, or small volcanic bodies of various shapes. Some of these bodies are relatively small, up to 170 meters high conical bodies occurring on the near side and far side of the Moon. Based on research about the Marius Hills and South Pole-Aitken locations, it was suggested, that these bodies could be a lunar equivalent of terrestrial cinder cones. Cinder cones are created by degassing and fragmentation of magma with subsequent deposition of pyroclastic material into the surroundings. This shape similarity of the lunar cones to the terrestrial cones is surprising, as there is less gravitational acceleration on the Moon's surface and the atmosphere is missing. This means, that particles are able to flow further, and this should also affect the appearance of the volcanic bodies. The aim of this work is to review available literature mentioning lunar cones, to map their frequencies on the surface of the Moon, to determine their basic shapes and explain possible differences or concordances in their shapes with terrestrial cinder cones. On the basis of the...
The course of the general meeting of a joint-stock company
Novotný, Radek ; Patěk, Daniel (advisor) ; Zahradníčková, Marie (referee)
The course of the general meeting of a joint-stock company The aim of this thesis is to describe the procedure of the convening and the course of the general meeting of a joint-stock company according to the new Law No. 90/2012 Coll., on commercial companies and cooperatives. The regulation of the convening and the course of the general meeting is highly important, because the general meeting is the supreme body of joint stock company, which is exclusively authorized to decide on the fundamental corporate issues. Structure of this thesis is divided into 5 chapters. The first chapter is general, introductory and it describes the definition, the regulation and the organization of the joint stock company. The second chapter is devoted to the question of the proper convention of the general meeting, which is the basic assumption to the valid course of the general meeting. In the first part of this chapter are defined reasons for convention of the general meeting and bodies of the company entitled to this step. The second part of this chapter is devoted to the methods of publication and the content of the invitation to the general meeting. The third chapter identifies issues related to participation in the general meeting. It describes forms of the participation in the general meeting and related issues, the...
Control of packaging machine using Safety PLC
Žiak, Martin ; Novotný, Radek (referee) ; Štohl, Radek (advisor)
This thesis deals with a technology of continuous packaging machine in the beginning from the point of risk assessment and design of necessary measures to reduce the risk as much as it is possible. Here the HRN method was used to quantify every risk factor. Next part documents the implementation of the safety measures and the realization of the safety circuits by using Simatic S7–1500F safety PLC and Shared device functionality. Safety function which is realized in the Sinamics S120 drive is Safe Stop 1. Next, it describes the drive dimensioning and the principle of the drive control. Simotion PLC is discussed in more details and then is used as a motion control master. An approach to the configuration of camming synchronous operation is dealt with in details. Cam design and their realization is documented, too. The thesis also demonstrates the state manager that was implemented in the user program and which is used according to the concept of OMAC state manager. In the end a simple HMI for packaging machine control is described.
Malaiyaka Tamil Youth in Sri Lanka: Values, Aspirations, and the Forming of a New Elite
Novotný, Radek ; Vavroušková, Stanislava (advisor) ; Strnad, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hons, Pavel (referee)
Radek Novotný Malaiyaka Tamil Youth in Sri Lanka: Values, Aspirations, and the Forming of a New Elite Malaiyaka Tamils are a minority and lowest-status group within the society of Sri Lanka. A majority of them were brought by the British colonialists from India to work on their coffee, later tea plantations in the course of the 19th and 20th century. They were deprived of their basic civil rights in 1940's. However, the Malaiyaka Tamils have been undergoing a process of considerable social-economic changes over the last three decades, which was launched especially by the attainment of citizenship, growth of educational opportunities, and growth of civic and political awareness. The young Malaiyaka Tamils have an opportunity to become the first relatively well-educated generation and new elite of their ethnic group. This work attempts to analyse the prospects of the Malaiyaka Tamils youth's upward social mobility process by investigating their aspirations, values, and attitudes. I conducted field research in the so-called Hill Country of Sri Lanka, and I collected data by using methods, especially, of semi-structured interviews and questionnaire survey. We can assume that the target population will undergo a process of structural upward social mobility, and will become the new social- economic...
Problematic aspects of democracy in India and Sri Lanka
Granátová, Lenka ; Novotný, Radek (referee) ; Hons, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis "Problematic Aspects of Democracy in India and Sri Lanka" deals with those aspects of the two South-Asian democracies which are considered contradictory to democratic regimes or at least problematize them. The thesis includes general consideration of what is specific for Asian democracies in comparison to the western concept of liberal democracy, the analysis of two cases - India and Sri Lanka - and their comprehensive comparison. The author tries to point out that despite many common features and geographical proximity these two countries differ a lot regarding the evolution of democracy.
Applications of wavelet transform in Mathematica and Sage
Novotný, Radek ; Trzos, Michal (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis focuses on image processing using wavelet transform. The usage of wavelet transform is analysed especially for image compression and image noise reduction purposes. The analysis describes in detail aspects and application of the following wavelet transform methods: CWT, DWT, DTWT, 2D DWT. The thesis further explains the meaning of the mother wavelet and studies certain specific kinds of wavelets, kinds of thresholding and its purposes and also touches on the JPEG2000 standard. Mathematica and Sage software packages were used to design algorithms for image compression and image noise reduction, utilising relevant wavelet transform findings. The concluding part of the thesis compares the two software packages and results obtained using different algorithms.

Comparison of Linux and Windows networking performance
Novotný, Radek ; Burget, Radim (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
My Bachelor’s thesis aims to provide a comparison of the performance of servers, i.e. measuring the load of their processors, physical memory, and the whole operating system over network communication using UDP protocol. For this purpose, I developed my own programs. Theoretical part of this work concentrates on the general overview on computer networks and their categorisation according to the ISO OSI and TCP/IP network models. Main differences between network interfaces for both models are provided; the TCP and UDP structures, layers, communication and protocols are explained. The choice was made to measure values for a Linux server with Linux SUSE 10.3 distribution, and a Windows server with Windows server 2003 R2. A program was created so that clients could send data via the UDP protocol on servers. The program is also capable of measuring packet loss which is caused by increased load on the servers from communication itself. It is essential to determine which operating system can eliminate this issue in a better way as this a crucial parameter when selecting a data server. Measurements are comprised in charts comparing load and data loss for a given number of users.
