Topolčianky - Summer residence of Czechoslovak presidents
Žohová, Magdalena ; Lovaš, Karol (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to present the historically significant castle of Topoľčianky and its surroundings. In the form of a radio podcast, the author presents a comprehensive information package that introduces the castle and its surroundings from a historical perspective and offers interviews with historians and locals. The podcast form in this case incorporates several well-known and defined radio genres. It combines elements of the classic interview, documentary, but also reportage. Listeners of the practical output (podcast) should learn a lot of summarized information about the historically significant place used by former rulers and presidents, led by Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, as their summer residence. The result of the work should therefore be a mapping of the site in a varied and attractive, yet informative form.
Analysis of discussion topies in the Václav Havel Library in 2012-2021
Šimůnková, Natálie ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
The basic idea of the thesis is to examine the interconnection of the media field and the civic sector on the example of the Václav Havel Library - a public benefit society founded in 2004, which organizes various seminars, readings, exhibitions, lectures, debates, concerts and theatre performances. The theoretical part deals with the basic concepts of journalism and civil society, while its second section explains the specificities of the civil sector emerging from the dissident environment in the Visegrad countries. The environment of dissent also formed a significant part of the life of Václav Havel, who became a symbol of civic engagement worldwide, and the Václav Havel Library now preserves his literary, dramatic, dissident and political legacy. The ambition of this thesis is to introduce the public to the Library's production and compare its real programme schema with its media image, to reveal which programmes of the Václav Havel Library came through the media gates in 2012 and 2022, to identify the most media successful programmes and to interpret the results. The Václav Havel Library invests time and effort in promoting its productions, using its own online television channel, the Havel Channel, and establishing collaborations with media houses, which allows it to become part of the...
God behind bars: series of interviews with prison chaplains
Kulasová, Magdalena ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Lovaš, Karol (referee)
The aim of the practical bachelor's thesis God behind Bars: A Series of Journalistic Interviews with Prison Chaplains is to provide insight into the historical development of spiritual service in the Czech prison system, and in particular to describe its current form and the ways and specifics of its functioning. The series of journalistic interviews documents six personal stories in which male and female chaplains describe the reasons and motivations that led them to the vocation of prison chaplains, and share their personal experiences with this profession that they have gained during their practice. Through the interviews, the respondents characterize the chaplaincy work, the principles of prison spiritual service, and offer various perspectives on the work of spiritual professionals in Czech prisons.
Comparison of the media analysis of the Karlovy Vary International film Festival and the Jihlava Internationa Documentary Film Festival (Ji.hlava) in regional and nationwide media
Páleníčková, Nikola ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
This thesis analyzes the media coverage of select festivals in national and regional press, primarily aiming to create a comprehensive understanding of how the media handle information about the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. The study examines the amount of media coverage received by the festivals, as well as the topics and themes associated with them. The thesis employs a combination of quantitative and qualitative content analysis methods, which are developed through coding. The theoretical section provides a historical overview of the festivals' origins, introducing the select festivals within the context of Czech and world cinema and their broader social significance. The thesis also addresses the marketing of cultural events and the promotion of cultural activities. The second half of the thesis focuses on research methodology, its development, implementation, and data interpretation. The thesis includes an appendix with the coding book and accompanying materials, which were created based on the analysis data.
Media Response to Erben's Unfading Bouquet
Protasevičová, Alexandra ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with a comparison and compilation of the media response to the various versions of Karel Jaromír Erben's The Bouquet. The subject of comparison is the multiple reviews, starting with those published in the press immediately after the first historical publication of the poetry collection, followed by the reaction to the theatrical production at the Semafor theatre in 1972, to the reactions to the more modern adaptation in 2009. The theatrical production at the National Theatre, which premiered in 2019, was chosen for a further appropriate comparison. The thesis also focuses on film production, specifically Bouquet, directed by F. A. Brabec from 2000. The aim of the thesis is to answer the question of how the different versions of Erben's Bouquet differ, and what causes the significant differences. Another question is why artists feel the need to return to the work and reinterpret the story according to them. The thesis is a critical-historical analysis, bringing a media perspective, but also a cultural-political one, with a focus on the personal dimension.
Cytoskeletal orchestration of early mammalian development
Novotný, Jan ; Libusová, Lenka (advisor) ; Mašek, Jan (referee)
Structures of the cytoskeleton play a critical role in early mammalian development. Microtubules, intermediate filaments and actin microfilaments provide structural and mechanical basis for major developmental transitions of preimplantation development. Microvilli supported by bundles of actin filaments become restricted to one pole of the blastomere during the process of polarisation. All components of the cytoskeleton network undergo apparent reorganisation in embryo compaction. Cells flatten and adhere to each other thanks to the formation of cytoskeleton-linked intercellular junctions and oscillatory contractions generated by actomyosin complexes. Filopodia, actin based protrusions, are debated for their potential role in blastomere apposition and cell signalling. The first process of cell line specification in mammalian development is that which defines outer cells of morula as presumptive trophectoderm and inner cells as presumptive inner cell mass. Proteins and structures of cytoskeleton are asymmetrically distributed between these two populations helping to determine the fate of each blastomere. The aim of the thesis is to summarise the roles of cytoskeleton in blastomere polarisation, embryo compaction and specification of inner and outer cell populations in mammalian preimplantation...
Series of Publicistic Interviews with Young Evangelical Pastors
Dvouletá, Kristýna ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Lovaš, Karol (referee)
The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis presents the profession of pastor in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (CCE). The theoretical part presents the main tenets of Christianity, and then it focuses on the principles of CCE's belief. The bachelor thesis then describes the organizational structure of the CCE, the position of examined Church in the Czech law system, and the CCE's methods of financing and economic activities. Then, the theoretical part describes the profession of the priest. The thesis describes the role of the priest in CCE and the educational system of priests. The last part describes the risks which are connected to the profession of the priest. The third part focuses on methods of interviewing. Then the thesis describes the methods which were used in the interviews with priests. The author justifies the choice of the respondents and presents the themes which were used in the interviews. The interviews are then evaluated. Six journalistic interviews with young evangelical priests comprised the practical part of the thesis. The main goal of this thesis is to present the life of young evangelical priests. For instance, the respondents speaks about their inner motivation, about their professional duties, and about problems which they face.
Processing of glass by ultrashort pulses
Novotný, Jan ; Mrňa, Libor ; Horník, Petr ; Šebestová, Hana
Use of ultrafast laser pulses for processing of glass materials is promising method for cutting, drilling and manufacturing of free form shapes. No material damage is observed due to nearly zero heat affected zone. Cutting of opticaly coated substrates withou damage to the layers is also possible. Thanks to precision beam positioning system it is possible to manufacture free form shapes for optical (microelents) or microfluidic use. Optical element's surfaces are finished to desired quality by other technologies.
Stabilization for optical receiver
Kolka, Z. ; Barcík, P. ; Novotný, Jan ; Biolková, V.
Free-Space Optics (FSO) is a wireless optical technology for line-of-sight communications. The front of the receiving optical fiber is located at the focus of the telescope. The relatively small diameter of the core puts extreme demands on receiver pointing under atmospheric turbulences and mounting bracket vibrations. To ensure stability, the beam is stabilized by a fine positioning system. A detection unit evaluates the position of the centre of the laser spot using photodiodes and compensates for deviations by changing the mirror angle.
Laser welding with beam oscillation
Šebestová, Hana ; Horník, Petr ; Novotný, Jan ; Mrňa, Libor
Laser welding with beam oscillation (wobbling) usually leads to the reduction of penetration depth caused by transition from keyhole to conduction mode welding. Based on the distribution of power density in transversal direction (within the oscillation diameter), the approximate shape of weld cross-section can be predicted without the need to calculate heat conduction in the material. Deep penetration can also be achieved when a suitable combination of oscillation mode and its parameters is applied.
