Women's peacebuilding civil society organisations and empowerment: A case Study of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Novotná, Zuzana ; Bureš, Oldřich (advisor) ; Aslan, Emil (referee)
Women are underrepresented in politics and rarely included in official peace processes, therefore, they often mobilise in civil society. Moreover, the political empowerment of women continues to be understudied. The thesis looks into how women's peacebuilding civil society organisations engage in the political empowerment of women. To finds answers to the research question, five women's peacebuilding civil society organisations based in Bosnia and Herzegovina were analysed through a conceptual framework of political empowerment. The organisations share the ideas of pacifism and gender equality. The research concludes that they engage in all dimensions of the conceptual framework but most significantly aim at increasing women's agency. The organisations provide women with a safe space to use their voices, share experiences, and create momentum. All the studied organisations fight gender-based violence and provide legal assistance to women. Membership in different networks and initiatives was identified as an important asset. The activities aiming at political empowerment and not directly stating the objective of peacebuilding can be perceived as such due to the positive link between gender equality and sustainable peace.
Integration of elements of Physical Education and Health Physical Education into general knowledge improving subjects
Novotná, Zuzana ; Hronzová, Marie (advisor) ; Kuhnová, Věra (referee)
The aim of my master thesis is an incorporation of elements of Physical Education and Health Physical Education into regular subjects. It includes utilization of different areas of a school building during teaching. The purpose of a theoretical part is to explain concepts related to movement, children of elementary school age, Physical Education and Health Physical Education. Therefore in my research I focused besides healthy children on also children with movement disorder, and children with study problems. In attachment you can find a methodical stack of different exercises for children during teaching and during breaks as well as with usage of different areas and tools. Moreover it includes pictures of children doing exercises and pictures of different exercisers which can be placed inside or outside of a school building. Last part is an evaluation of these exercises by children themselves.
Neutrality of humanitarian organisations in armed conflicts: People in need in Eastern Ukraine
Novotná, Zuzana ; Šír, Jan (advisor) ; Lídl, Václav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with neutrality of humanitarian organisations in armed conflicts. The aim of the thesis is to show on a case study of Czech humanitarian organisation People in need in Eastern Ukraine what are the limits and what are the opportunities of the humanitarian principle of neutrality. Chapters about theory of humanitarian aid and humanitarian situation in Eastern Ukraine create a base for the following case of People in need. People in need provide humanitarian relief in Eastern Ukraine since August 2014. Thanks to the principle of neutrality the organisation could have worked in both, the area under control of Ukrainian government and the area administrated by separatist's quasi-states in Eastern Ukraine. Time frame of the thesis is from summer 2014 to the end of 2016 when "Donetsk poeple's republic" has not extended PiN's registration. The case study shows that the main limit of the principle is trying to be seen as neutral. However thanks to fulfilling the principle of neutrality, the organisation can get to people who need the humanitarian aid the most.
Enzymatic system of anaerobic rumen fungi
Novotná, Zuzana ; Fliegerová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Homolka, Petr (referee) ; Javorský, Peter (referee)
Anaerobic fungi inhabiting the digestive tract of large herbivores secrete a variety of hydrolytic enzymes, including cellulases, xylanases, mannases, esterases, glucosidases, and glucanases, which effectively hydrolyze plant biomass consisting mainly of cellulose and hemicellulose, the most abundant polysaccharides in the biosphere. The immense progress has been achieved in investigation of Neocallimastix, Piromyces, however other genera are less studied. This work therefore concentrated the effort to analyze the hydrolytic system of genera Anaeromyces, Orpinomyces, Caecomyces and fungus KF9 described as new type of fungus belonging to the genus Piromyces. The studied anaerobic fungi grown in batch culture on M10 medium with rumen fluid and microcrystalline cellulose as carbon source produced a broad range of enzymes requisite for degradation of plant structural and storage carbohydrates including cellulase, endoglucanase, xylanase, α-xylosidase, β-xylosidase, α-glucosidase, β-glucosidase, β-galactosidase, mannosidase, cellobiohydrolase, amylase, laminarinase, pectinase and pectate lyase. These enzymes were detected in both the intra- and extra-cellular fractions, but production into the medium was prevalent with exception for intracellular β-xylosidase, chitinases, N-acetylglucosaminidase, and...

Alois Richard Nykl and his view of Mexico
Novotná, Zuzana ; Opatrný, Josef (advisor) ; Buben, Radek (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the unpublished travel book from Mexico of the Czech traveler, journalist, orientalist and polyglot Alois Richard Nykl. The criticism of the source is designed to reveal the personality of Alois Richard Nykl as much as possible, who is a little-known scientist in the current Czech environment. The author focuses on his judgments about the Mexican Indian population in the post-revolution era of the 1920s. Based on Nykl's statements, the thesis seeks to provide a comprehensive view of the changing social position of the Indians in the context of the new political concept of the Mexican state. The work, among other things, points to Nykl's interest in anthropology and archeology in an already broad range of his interests and knowledge. The thesis highlights Nykl's devotion to studying multidisciplinary information about Mexico, even though he was a specialist in Andalusian and comparative literature.
