Analysis of clients needs in low-threshold drop-in center SANANIM: Questionnaire survey

Background: Human needs encompass a spectrum ranging from fundamental physiological requirements, such as breathing and sustenance, to elevated needs like love and appreciation. While most individuals fulfill these needs through typical social interactions, certain groups, including those engaging in illicit drug use, seek assistance from institutions such as the SANANIM contact centre. The objective of this thesis is to ascertain the perceived needs of clients at the facility and evaluate the extent to which these needs are being addressed. These insights can contribute to enhancing existing services and introducing new ones where necessary. Another objective is to formulate a unique questionnaire suitable for consistently assessing the requirements of the facility's clientele. Methods: The instrument of data production was an original questionnaire, created specifically for the research, which was filled in with the respondent by the interviewer - PAPI (Pen and Paper Interviewing). Research Sample: The study involved 60 clients of the low-threshold center SANANIM who utilize the services provided by this facility. Addiction treatment services in the Czech prison system: Experiences with the implementation of the new type of addiction service

BACKGROUND. Substance use is a widespread phenomenon in prisons, with a numberous associated problems, for instance high incidence of infectious diseases, recidivism, poor physical and mental health and high costs of repressive measures, which still do not eradicate drug use in prison facilities. In 2016, the first addictologist was admitted to the prison system in Czechia. Two years later, 14 more table places were established. The thesis brings an overview at this period (2018 - 2021). AIMS. The aim of the thesis is to provide an information about starting and forming of specialized addiction services in prison seeting from the perspective of addictologists. The theoretical part of the thesis also presents the results of foreign research on the effectiveness of selected interventions and strategies and recommendations for good practice. RESEARCH QUESTIONS. The research questions address the experience of addictologists and are focused on four main areas: workplace formation, clientele, quality assurance and the impact of Covid-19 on the workplace. Controlled alcohol drinking

BACKGROUND. Alcohol consumption is increasing worldwide. The Czech Republic is constantly holding onto the first rungs of the world's biggest drinkers. There is a tradition of treatment based on strict abstinence. Possibility of choosing controlled drinking, in some cases, would expand the therapeutic options for working with clients affected by alcohol. AIMS. This theses deals with the theme of controlled drinking. The main aim is to present the current knowledge of the issue and to describe impementation in practise. The other aim is to describe type of client for whom this strategy could work, and also to present some methods used abroad. RESEARCH QUESTIONS. Research questions are dealing with the type of clientele for which controlled drinking could present the right choice, and also with the type of methods used in work with this clientele. METHODS. To meet the aims, there was made an analysis of scientific literature reached by research made throug international scientific databases in period of October 2014 to July 2015. RESULTS.
