Literary adaptations of the dramatic conflict in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

The bachelor's thesis entitled Literary adaptations of the dramatic conflict in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet explores the uniqueness of the "Shakespearean theme" and the construction of dramatic conflict in Romeo and Juliet. The thesis is focused on a detailed interpretation and the dual emphasis of the story: the theme of love and the theme of social conflict. Subsequently, the thesis examines the possibilities of reception of Shakespearean conflict in two selected texts: the novel Romeo and Juliet in the Countryside (1856) by Gottfried Keller and the novel Romeo Juliet and Darkness (1958) by Jan Otčenášek. The novels are interpreted, and the construction and escalation of their conflicts are described. The thesis also includes a closer comparison of the both novels with Shakespeare's text. Religious motifs in the work of Karel Kryl

This bachelor thesis will deal with religious motifs in the work of Karel Kryl. The text which will be analysed will be taken from the entirety of this author's work. The main goal will be to analyse individual religious motifs and explain their meaning and role in Kryl's poetics. The theoretical part will explain which terminology will be used in this thesis. The following part will talk about Karel Kryl himself, and his relationship with religion. The most important part of this thesis will be the analysis and interpretation of the chosen texts. These texts will be divided into subchapters according to the main religious motifs. Within these subchapters they will be sorted chronologically according to their date of origin.

Empathy possibilities with literary characters in the reception of Jan Balabán's short stories

This bachelor thesis deals with reader empathy towards literary characters in Jan Balabán's short stories, specifically focusing on the means of text construction that enable this empathy. The theoretical part of the thesis first defines the subjects of the empathic response - the literary character and the reader. Subsequently, the empathic process is also defined. In the practical part, three short stories from different short story collections by Jan Balabán are then analysed, because the sub-research of the bachelor's thesis is focused on the transformation of the means of text construction key to eliciting an empathic response in the context of Balabán's work. The analyses themselves are structured into the different levels of literary character, narrator, story, space-time and language. The analyses then show that the empathic response in the reader is elicited in a similar way in the first two stories, mainly due to the blurring of the distinctions between the narrator's zone and the character's zone, which evokes a similarity with interpersonal interaction, as well as due to the sites of non-determinism that result in the elicitation of so-called external inferences. Typology of Visual Texts of Czech Experimental Poetry

The bachelor's thesis examines the visual texts of Czech experimental poetry of the 1960s. The main goal of the work is to create a typology of the possibilities of visualizing poetic texts. The intention of the typology is to clarify the material and related terminology. The first chapter of the thesis summarizes the development of the defamiliarization of the visual component of the poetic text in the context of the history of the relationship between image and word and briefly characterizes experimental poetry in the Czech environment in a global context. The second chapter summarizes already existing typologies of experimental texts and explains the criteria by which visual poems can be classified. We came to the conclusion that in order to make the material clearer, it is necessary to sort the texts according to more than just one already existing criterion. We classify the texts in terms of the method of creation and the author's intention. The second chapter also contains the typology itself - visual poems are classified into seven types: Statistical text, Structural text, Topological text, Narrative poem, Colour poem, Obfuscation of the Readable and Overlapping. Poetry of Jaroslav Seifert as an opportunity to teach Czechoslovak history at second grade of elementary school

This diploma thesis Poetry of Jaroslav Seifert as an opportunity to teach Czechoslovak history at second grade of elementary school deals with the use of Seifert's poems issued between years 1937 and 1950 during history lessons in the ninth grade of primary schools. Texts are thoroughly chosen from the collections of poems created during great historical events and milestones (such as 1930s crisis, The Munich Agreement, The Second World War, the liberation of Czechoslovakia and finally Stalinism in 1950s Czechoslovakia). Seifert's poems are perceived as lyric diaries offering a view of given era through historical references while taking their artistic nature into consideration. This diploma thesis is divided into chapters corresponding with above-mentioned historical events. The introduction of each chapter briefly deals with historical background of given eras when Seifert wrote his poems. The actual analysis of the collections of poems is dealt with in corresponding subchapters where, considering aesthetical side of poems, the common features of collections potentially usable for preparations of lessons are identified and categorized. This bachelor's thesis aims to map the work of a Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie especially through the fundamental areas of problems that Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie deals with as a celebrityin an active public space - issues of racism,feminism andher life in Nigeria and USA. The first part of the thesis focuses on the writer's life as a whole as well as her views, which she projects into her literaryworks. The second (analytical) part of the thesis is a comparative analysis of each theme (racism, feminism, Nigeria) and the degree and functionality (literary value) of involvement in her works. Poetry of Czech millennials (2010 - 2020) - analysis of themes and motifs

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse the poetry of Czech millennials between 2010 and 2020.The thesis analyses 25 works by laureates or candidates of literary prizes (mainly the Jiří Orten Prize and the František Halas Prize) and works from leading Czech poetry publishers (Dauphin, Fra, Host, Větrné mlýny, Dybbuk). The analysis focuses on identifying the motifs that appear across the works of the authors in question and uses these motifs to illustrate a broader theme, which is then confronted with sociological studies. What emerges is a comprehensive insight into the poetics of a generation of poets emerging in the recent decade. Two major themes in the poetry of millennials are identified in the thesis as the trauma of a lost childhood and the critique of capitalist society. The themes of God and Christian motifs, themes and motifs related to the human body, the theme and motif of death, and pop culture motifs are also treated in the thesis. The thesis concludes with a comprehensive look at the developmental tendencies in the poetry of millennials in terms of thematic, motivic and formal aspects; other observations that emerged from the analysis are also appended.

Working with a story in preschool children

The aim of the presented bachelor's thesis is to describe the story as an important phenomenon and a means to develop reading preliteracy in preschool children, with a focus on the age group of five to six year olds. The theoretical part is based on the study of the literature and focuses on the definition of reading preliteracy, its importance and its development in kindergarten with regard to the developmental specifics of children aged 5-6 years, which it details. It also presents the functions of literature, characterises literature for children and the story, and introduces genres suitable for this age group (with a more detailed focus on the fairy tale). It looks at how reading preliteracy is anchored in the Framework Preschool Education Programme and how the development of reading preliteracy is conceptualised in contemporary preschool education. It focuses on appropriate methods and forms of story work and the role of stories and books in the educational process, and finally it talks about children's perception of stories and the ability to tell a story.
