Advances in treatment of human trypanosomiasis
Novotná, Kristýna Klára ; Mach, Jan (advisor) ; Grekov, Igor (referee)
Sleeping sickness is a human disease found in sub-saharan Africa, and is caused by a parasitic protozoan Trypanosoma brucei. Trypanosoma brucei species infects various mammals, however, only Trypanosoma brucei gambiense and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense subspecies are resistant to trypanolytic factors found in human blood serum. This work briefly summarizes known operating mechanisms of trypanolytic factors and resistance mechanisms of trypanosomes to these factors. The work covers mainly description and summarization of current diagnostic methods of sleeping sickness and used trypanocidal drugs. Majority of introduced methods shows high levels of sensitivity and specificity, however, for poor, disease affected areas they are often way too expensive. Prescribed drugs are expensive as well, and what's more, they are often ineffective against both subspecies and have severe side effects. Last part of the work is dedicated to potential development of new medicaments.

Lastly this theoretical part contains international recommendation concerning type, intensity and duration of exercise in multiple sclerosis patients. The second part of thesis is about practical experiences with group exercise management in our organization (MS Center, 1st Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital in Prague). The experiences from group exercise are analysed from three diffrent points of view: objective measurement of gait parametres, exercise attendance and data gained from patient questionnaire. Final part summarises knowledge from theoretical and practical part. In this part I tried to make some recommendation for management of group exercise in multiple sclerosis patients. Novotná, Klára ; Chrudimský, Jan (advisor) ; Novotná, Viléma (referee)
Title: Verification of instructor influence on the load during exercise session of "Jumping". Goals: The main goal is to observe the dynamics of heart rate during the 62-minute exercise session of "Jumping" and to observe the impact of the instructor on the cardiovascular system load, by monitoring heart rate. Methods: During the exercise session of "Jumping" we observe the cardiovascular system load on 38 volunteers aged 18-30 years, by monitoring of heart rate. For measuring heart rate, we used equipment Polar RS800CX. Probands were divided into four groups according to gender and age. Two groups of men and women in each age categories up to 20 years and from 21 to 30 years. Each proband completed four exercise sessions lasting about 62 minutes. The sessions were led by four different instructors. Results: The analysis results show that the average heart rates during 62 minute exercise session of "Jumping" are not significantly different. Measured values showed that Jumping is not aerobic activity. Keywords: Jumping, trampoline, heart rate, cardiovascular system, sport tester
Issues of pet goat breeding
Kuželová, Tereza ; Fantová, Milena (advisor) ; Novotná, Klára (referee)
General aim of this thesis is to describe the goat raising sector of Czech republic exclusive of commercial meat and milk production subjects. This literary research details the non-professional goat raising and interesting traits of a few selected goat breeds, more specifically Dutch Dwarf goat, Valais Blackneck and Pygmy Goat (Cameroon). Angora goat and Cashmere goat are selectively bred, as their names suggest, for wool and coat production. Goat fur manufacturing industry isnt developed in Czech republic, these breeds are therefore utilized mainly for grass grazing, land development or just being raised for the mere fun of it. Also worth mentioning is the Girgentana breed, which not so long ago stood on the brink of extinction. Each chapter covers one specific breed, elaborating on its origins, on the history of the strain, its characteristics and utilization. Popularity of non-professionally raised goats in Czech republic is on the rise thanks to their attractive colouring, relatively low groundswell, their intelligence and a friendly temper. All kinds of farm or agriculture animals are nowadays being transformed into exotic pets and the goats are no exception. According to the surveys of Czech Goat Breeder Association, the numbers of goat breeders are on the worldwide rise and the non-professional hobby breeders are an integral part of them.

Effect of algae feeding on selected qualitative indicators of milk of small ruminants
Novotná, Klára ; Stádník, Luděk (advisor)
Milk fat is one of the most important components of goat milk. Another benefit of goat milk fat is its better digestibility in comparison with cow milk, which is caused by the smaller size of lipid micelles. Goat milk fat contains more lower fatty acids (caproic, caprylic and capric), which affect the production and processing of milk and cause specific flavor of goat's milk and dairy products. In recent years, the subject of many studies the possibility of increasing the content of other health beneficial fatty acids in goat milk, such as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Animal nutrition is a significant factor how to achieve these changes in the fatty acid profile of milk fat. For these purposes can be used as additives for certain species of algae which are the source of nutritionally valuable lipids with a high content of polyene fatty acids, especially omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The ability to change the composition of goat mikl fat, represents an opportunity for the development of new products. Functional foods, such as milk and dairy products enriched with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The aim of this work is to determine what effect the addition of selected algae (Chlorella vulgaris and Japanochytrium sp.) On milk production and representation of the components of milk, focusing on the composition of milk fat and fatty acid profile in goat milk. Attention was paid to reduction of saturated and increase the proportion of nutritionally beneficial unsaturated fatty acids, in particular n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.
