Dissent in Parliamentary Majority: Legislative Activities of the Chamber of Deputies Parliament of the Czech Republic 1996-2010
Kuta, Martin ; Reschová, Jana (advisor) ; Němec, Jan (referee)
Parliamentary system of government demands parliamentary competent parties. Dissension within parties can block the entire political system; the government cannot rely on its majority and fails in processing its proposals on the agenda of the parliament. From the analytical perspective, inquiry in dissension in the parliamentary majority is one of basic questions. The thesis deals with dissension at the theoretical level. Using the Czech Chamber of Deputies as an example, the thesis conceptualizes forms of dissension (a disapproval of a governmental proposal at the first reading as the absolute dissent). The thesis conducts voting unity tests of Czech political parties that forge government. According to the empirical inquiry, the dissension that leads to the disapproval of governmental proposals stems from the dissent within the political parties, not from the dissent among parties.
Parliamentary election campaign in 2002,2006 and 2010: analysis of election materials
Pistulková, Petra ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Němec, Jan (referee)
Diploma thesis focuses on parliamentary election campaign of Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) in 2002, 2006 and 2010. The hypothesis is that ČSSD maintains relatively stable core of voters, manages to call on them through their political campaign and to keep their support. Yet ČSSD is unable to catch new voters, especially young people and university educated voters. The goal is to prove or disprove this hypothesis and to give a reason why it is so. This paper outlines the influence of political marketing and presents a critical analysis of political marketing. It examines trends in Czech parliamentary election campaigns of 2002, 2006 and 2010 and the shifts in voters preferences. The paper analyses election materials in order to determine the profile of ČSSD voters and to explain why ČSSD has this profile of voters.

The Culture Collection of Actinomycetes in České Budějovice (CCACB) was established in 2006 that serves as a depository for cultures of soil actinomycetes. The cultures can be used for research, industrial applications, education and general scientific interest. Cultures are preserved mainly in glycerol or freeze-dried conserves. CCACB will offer strains of actinomycetes, namely streptomycetes (more than 900 cultures at the present moment), in catalogue of cultures www.upb.cas.cz, www.actinomycetes.cz.
Detection of microorganisms in the soil using CARD-FISH (Catalyzed Reporter Deposition - Fluorescence in situ hybridization)
Krištůfek, Václav ; Kasalický, Vojtěch ; Chroňáková, Alica ; Elhottová, Dana ; Němec, Jan
CARD-FISH protocol (Catalyzed Reporter Deposition - Fluorescence in situ Hybridization) for detection of soil microbial community composition was successfully established in the Institute of Soil Biology. CARD-FISH is the relatively new molecular biology tool permitting to quantify distinct groups of microorganisms by hybridization of specific oligonucleotide probes. Compared to classic FISH-protocol the probe-attached enzyme amplifies the fluorescent signal and enables to detect nearly all microorganisms in soil or in organic compounds. As the first, we used this method to determine the bacterial community composition of a dated layer of guano-heap from Domica Cave (Slovak Carst National Park, Slovakia). We quantified the percentuel composition of Archaea, Eubacteria (.i.Planktomycetales, Verrucomicrobiales./i. included) and major bacterial groups (Actinobacteria, proteobacteria, .i.Cytophaga-Flavobacter./i.-Bacteroidetes, Sphingobacteria).
