Michalková, Dominika ; Nádvorníková, Olga (advisor) ; Štichauer, Jaroslav (referee)
Women constitute a significant part of the working environment and occupy positions that previously had exclusively male character. In the French language, we can still find some occupations, titles and functions, where the feminine form is not always accepted and its use varies. This also concerns the word professeur and its semantic field. This work will address this issue. It will study the differences among francophone countries on the basis of their language policies of the feminization of the professions and seek to identify trends in the adoption of feminized forms of profession words with regard to each country. Based on the research this work will analyze the attitude of the speakers towards feminization of professions in education on the basis of sociolinguistic factors, namely the country of origin. The analysis will be complemented by the corpus research of words with similar lexical meaning.

Chovanová, Lucie ; Štichauer, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Nádvorníková, Olga (referee)
Numerals in French language represent very rich and to a large extent complicated grammatical system. This thesis focuses on the ordinal numerals which represent a very interesting subject of research, especially in terms of their historical development. As a preface to this problematics, we will, at first, generally characterize numerals in contemporary French normative grammar, explain their classification and then further focus on the cardinals and ordinals that are closely related from a diachronic point of view. This BA thesis aims to explain the development and functioning of ordinal numbers in French from their Latin origins to the present and also their specifics. Using the Frantext, we will illustrate the competition between different forms of ordinal numbers as well as their competition with the cardinals. Numeral "the second" with its two forms: second and deuxième, represents a specific case in this category. Its usage requires certain rules, which are however not always respected. By the means of a questionnaire designed for native speakers, we will try to analyze this phenomenon and consider whether the ordinals represent a category in decline.

Konštiaková, Kristína ; Nádvorníková, Olga (advisor) ; Štichauer, Jaroslav (referee)

The aim of theoretical part is to map all the cases of use of this word by using reference dictionaries and specialized literature. The practical part examines in more detail the use of comme in comparison. By means of language corpora, comme is studied in the construction where preceded by the verb be and an adjective (être + ADJ + comme). This structure is analyzed from the frequency point of view in subcorpora representing different types of texts. The frequency analysis includes qualitative analysis of the right context. Another goal is to identify the occurrences with a figurative meaning and to search for the most frequent adjectives as candidates figuring in collocations or perhaps even in idioms. Finally, the potential collocations are contrasted with dictionaries either to confirm them or to discover new ones, yet not lexicalized. Key words: comme, corpus, text type, comparison, collocation
French pronoun on and its counterparts in Czech and Spanish
Vítková, Alžběta ; Nádvorníková, Olga (advisor) ; Mudrochová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis French pronoun on and its counterparts in Czech and Spanish deals with the referential plurality of the French pronoun on. A special attention is paid to the degree of reference's determination. The theoretical part presents different perspectives of the study of this pronoun and of its meaning. Then, evolution of its use as well as types of its counterparts in Czech and Spanish are introduced. The empirical part analyses data excerpted from the parallel corpus InterCorp. It demonstrates that counterparts in Czech and Spanish are usually classified in different formal types. However, the degrees of reference determination in Czech and Spanish correspond in more than a half of instances. Research shows that the reference's determination is defined by the context (immediate, large and extralinguistic as well), nevertheless an objective universal determination remains impossible. Moreover, legal texts tend to employ the lowest degree of determination while the degrees of determination in fiction seem to be quite equally spread.
