This thesis deals with the specifics of adolescent identity (18 - 19 years) and growing up in long-term foster care in the Czech Republic. The purpose of this study is to describe how the adolescents in foster care see and think of themselves. The theoretical part focuses on the developmental period of adolescence with its outstanding characteristics. It also discusses the theories of identity and foster care in the Czech Republic. In addition, the newest studies related to the topic are covered. The goal of the practical part is to describe the forms of identity with their significant components. The main method includes semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. The results of the research show, that there is a strong attachement of the adolescents in foster care to their social environment (mainly to the foster parent, but also to other reference groups), through which these persons see themselves. Foster family plays an important role in the life of adolescents because they feel thankful for the care of their substitute carers. This research also discovered some significant differences in gender, e.g. different forms of attachement, adolescent subcultures, their opinion of friedship etc. In the thesis, these essential results and others are compared with the appropriate theories which...

Ideal of male beauty for adolescents
Slavíčková, Barbora ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Myšková, Lucie (referee)
in English Beauty is an abstract concept, which extends into many specific areas of our lives. We assess it individually and subjectively. I'll try to use this work to explore how adolescents perceive and evaluate the beauty. It will focus on the ideal of male beauty. I am interested in major differences between the ideals of girls and of boys and will try to find out which areas of beauty are important for them a which are not. My target group are ninth grade students of elementary school aged between 14 and 15 years. The thesis has two parts. The first part is theoretical, in which I point out the importance of self conception in relation to adolescent age and physical appearance. Then I will describe and explain the importance of individual parts of the body and face. Subsequently I will also interpret basic theories of perception in relation to social perception. The second, practical part will present specific ideals of male beauty designed by girls and boys. I will introduce different ideals by different ways of view and try to interpret differences between girlish and boyish images of male ideals.

Myšková, Lucie ; Trpišovská, Dobromila (referee) ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor)
The thesis concerns various screening procedures applied on pre-school children with regard to their readiness to the school-entry. The chapters with theoretical basis mainly examine children's abilities and skills, like reading and writing, which are thought an essential for the sake of further education. A particular attention is paid to present diagnostic and screening methods, which are aimed at mapping readiness of children for the school-entry. A method that can be in particular useful in pre-school children screening procedures is a newly created Test of school readiness. The test can be used for stopping insufficiently prepared children from entering the school. Moreover, the test is also aiding in finding a suitable way to prepare children for school; and appropriate interventions can be made upon the test results. The actual task was to consider recently prepared method with regard to its applicability and usefulness. It has been compared in the form of sub-tests to previously mentioned Test of school readiness, Orientation test of school maturity (Jirásek, 1970), Compare scheme of school ability (Kondáš, 1984). It has been confirmed that the test could be appropriately used as a screening method. However, it is necessary to adjust both subtests and several tasks within the test and further...
