Stehlíková, Magda ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Košák Felcmanová, Alena (referee)
This thesis seeks to describe the development and theoretical anchoring of the concept of the human rights-based approach (HRBA) in the context of development cooperation and to examine how it is taken into account by Czech NGOs. The theoretical part focuses in particular on the still controversial issues related to the universalism and cultural relativism of human rights, as well as their mostly individualistic nature. Then, the gradual penetration of human rights into international development discourse and the role and specifics of development NGOs are described in more detail. The thesis presents theoretical insights and concrete examples of the application of the human rights-based approach by NGOs. Critical perspectives and problematic implications associated with its application by NGOs are also discussed. In the Czech environment, the implementation of the HRBA is examined through a case study of two prominent NGOs.

Mynařík, Ondřej ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
The thesis aims at specifying chosen historical aspects of civil society development in border areas of South Bohemia, namely the Šumava Mountains. These specifics are determined mainly by forced disruption of the natural development in the region after the World War II, considering especially the forced evacuation of German minority and the closure of the area due to the origin of so called "iron curtain", generated by the communist regime. These events caused the disruption of civil society traditions in the region of interest , and the continuity can be restored only partially, being impacted by the current crisis of traditional values in the society. On the other hand, the development after 1989 displays completely new trends focused on tourism, nature conservat ion, cross-border cooperation as well as other profit - oriented activities. The informal components and traditions of regional civil society based on religion, solidarity, relationship to land and environment still lag behind though the sphere of educational and cultural programs, including shared cross-border cultural and educational and information programs, develops success fully, being supported by communal policy, statutory bodies and public administration. The institutional basis of civil sector activities is broader, mainly due to...

Kapusňáková, Zuzana ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Dohnalová, Marie (referee)

The theoretical part introduces the concepts of civic and political participation and homelessness. In the empirical part, interviews with homeless individuals and NGO representatives are used. The results show that practical barriers such as lack of information and resources for participation in political processes are the main obstacles to political participation for homeless individuals. It was also found that NGOs play a significant role in supporting political participation of homeless individuals and can help remove some of the barriers that prevent these individuals from political engagement. The significance of this work lies in its focus on a marginalized group of citizens and contribution to the discussion on inclusive political participation in the Czech Republic. The thesis also shows the importance of NGOs in supporting political participation of homeless individuals and can serve as inspiration for further research in this area.
