Private schools in the primary education system: case study of the Karlovy Vary Region

This diploma thesis focuses on private primary in the Karlovy Vary Region. It is a case study whose main aim is to present private primary schools in the context of the development of private schools at the national level. It looks at the trend of recent years, when there has been an increase in private schools across the regions of the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on secondary data obtained from relevant documents related to private education and from the known evidence available in the country. It presents the facts about private primary schools from the perspective of various authors who primarily deal with the topic in the Czech environment. The theoretical basis of the work is based on the supply and demand for education. Attention is also paid to parents as actors who have a significant influence on the existence of private primary schools. The research part provides insights into the market of private primary education in the Karlovy Vary Region. There are introduced individual schools that have been established in the region from 1991 to the present. What is the attitude of special educators to the policy of inclusion?

The bachelor's thesis deals with the opinions of special educators in special schools on inclusion. Although they are not direct actors of inclusion, they are workers in education and it can be useful to know their opinion. The aim of this work is to find out the opinion of the interviewed special education teachers, and then compare them with the opinions of other respondents. In the theoretical part, I deal with the concept of inclusion, the definition of the role of a special pedagogue in a special school, I state who is a pupil with special educational needs, I present two special schools in České Budějovice, in which special pedagogues teach, who were used as respondents in the practical part, and finally, I present the theory of street- level bureaucracy and the theory of the role of line workers in public policy, with whom I continue to work in the practical part. In the practical part, I present qualitative research using four semi-structured interviews and analysis of media outputs of special educators in newspapers and on the Internet. I subsequently analyze these sources. I mainly focus on their personal opinion on inclusion, then the perception of their role in the inclusion process, trust in the system and I apply the already mentioned theories. Digitization of education at public grammar schools in Prague in connection with the Covid-19 epidemic

The bachelor's thesis "Digitalization of education at public grammar schools in Prague in connection with the epidemic of the disease Covid-19" deals with the effect of the pandemic of the disease Covid-19 between the years 2019 and 2022 on teaching at public grammar schools in Prague. The work examines the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on teaching and maps the changes in teaching in individual waves of the pandemic in relation to the use of technical and digital tools in teaching. The theoretical part contains previous research on the topic of digitization in connection with schools. It also deals with the progress of digitization in Czech education since 2010, including the ability of teachers to work with digital and technological tools. The practical part of the work presents teaching as it took place in Prague grammar schools before the coronavirus pandemic and to what extent technological and digital aids were used for teaching during this period. It also examines how teaching has developed during three pandemic waves and also the form of teaching after the end of the third pandemic wave at the beginning of 2022 in relation to the use of digital teaching tools. The effects of sociocultural resources in family on academic achievement of secondary school students

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of sociocultural resources in the family and its influence on the academic achievement of secondary school students. It examines the role of the family and its various forms of cultural capital in relation to students' literacy performance and academic achievement in Czech language in the ninth grade of secondary schools and lower grades of comprehensive schools. In the theoretical part, the thesis first focuses on a description of the current Czech education system, then discusses reading literacy and presents existing research. The last part defines the notion of cultural capital and its conception in the present time. The methodological part presents the international PISA research. The analytical part is devoted to a secondary analysis of the PISA 2018 data and uses statistical methods to test how the reading climate, the number and types of books, reading in leisure time, parental education and parental support of children's school success, including with respect to the type of school attended, students' scores on the reading and text skills assessment, and grades in Czech language, affect reading achievement.
