Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the flow of time

The goal of this work is to provide an insight into the history of ADHD in global consequences, internationally and with special attention to Czech countries. With a contribution of broad number of literature the work is looking for answers on questions: Where and when had the diagnosis of ADHD appeared for the first time and what was it precise meaning? How the term itself and its content changed in time? How the attitude towards the hyperactive children was changing? In our environment the greatest emphasis is laid on terms Light Children Encephalopathy, Light Brain Dysfunction and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Where and when they first appeared, what was a difference in their meaning and mainly in approach towards children that were its carriers. From the comparison of answers to aforementioned questions it is clear that although each of the terms emphasizes different side of a complex problem the contents differ very slightly. Each title mirrors gradual growth of professional knowledge and society. However main aim, for all of those notions, stays primarily to provide an aid to children suffering from any of the mentioned conditions.
Volunteers in hospice care in the Czech Republic

The main topic of this dissertation is Volunteers in hospice care in the Czech Republic. The aim was find the role of volunteers in hospices and benefit of their work for clients of these institutions. The work is divided into six chapters. Theoretical part consists of five chapters focused on death and dying and of ethical issues of the end of life. The research and its results are described in sixth chapter. The overall goal of this dissertation is to talk about end of life dying and death because it is a taboo in our society.
Use of occupational therapy in special education

This dissertation focuses on the issue of combination of two occupations, occupational therapy and special education. Firstly, there is a detailed description of occupational therapy, its aims, division etc. Then it explores comprehensive rehabilitation in which these two branches blend most frequently. There is a description of the cooperation of an occupational therapist and a special educationalist and a description of applied occupational therapy in selected areas and of selected diagnoses. The selected areas are put together according to the subdisciplines of special education. The diagnoses are determined on the basis of the most common cooperation of both occupations. The main aim of the dissertation is the analysis of the possibilities of cooperation and its use in practice. There is also evaluation of questionnaires which were made for the purpose of this dissertation. The respondents were occupational therapists and special educationalists and their answers mirror the real position of both branches in practice. The result of the survey is lack of cooperation which should be improved in the future in order to enhance the quality of therapeutic treatment. FOKUS Tábor and intervention of people with mental diseases

This thesis deals with the problem how social services offered by FOKUS Tábor are effective in terms of subjective quality of life of their clients. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to mental illness - classification, symptoms, treatment limitations, which cause mental illness, and life perspective of people with mental illness. The second chapter discusses the quality of life, its assessment and measurement, as well as the factors influencing the quality of life and the quality of life of people with mental illness and the possibilities of its increase. The last chapter deals with the association FOKUS Tábor - characteristics, mission, history and present of the association, its objectives and principles, the services offered and characteristics of the target group. The aim of the study is to determine what role FOKUS Tábor has in improving quality of life of its clients with mental illness. Achieving this goal is realized by interviews with clients of FOKUS Tábor, during which it focuses primarily on how they perceive intervention of the association, thus the efficiency of social services offered. An integral part of the thesis looks also at gerontotechnology the task of which is to enhance the quality of life of the elderly and to allow them to remain in their home and therefore natural environment as long as possible. The title "how IT changed my life" contains an infinite number of questions and answers. Many elderly people feel better nowadays thanks to modern technologies. They appreciate the speed of information search on the internet, whether it involves health, cultural or transport information. Technologies also allow them to keep in touch with their family and friends. The benefit in the area of care and safety is also worth mentioning, especially in case of those living alone without a possibility of an all day oversight. Nowadays we can choose from several types of signal devices that can alert the police or a 24/7 line that can check the elderly person immediately over the phone, or send out an ambulance if necessary. Approaches to education of socially handicapped children in the Czech republic and in Slovakia

This thesis deals with education of socially handicapped people in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. It presents approaches and supporting disposals in both countries. The attention is devoted to actual situation in education of socially handicapped children at various degrees of schools. It describes affirmative actions, such as preliminary classes, education assistants in the Czech Republic or zero grades, education assistants and daylong education system in Slovakia. The thesis also sums up several projects focused on socially handicapped, one project focused on Roma children support realized in the Czech republic, three projects focused on education of socially handicapped, their parents' and educators' support, realized in middle Slovakia in years 2011-2015. Addictology services in the capital city of Prague with a focus on substitution treatment

The thesis is devoted to the issue of addiction services with a focus on substitution treatment. Theoretical part focuses on presenting of susbstitution treatment, its history and description of the substitution substances and their effects on the human body. Describes the abuse of substitution treatment by problem drug users and tries to map out the various addiction treatment services with a focus on substitution treatment in Prague. The research section defines the attitude of society towards the establishment and functioning of Prague substitution centers. Community-crare as a set of communication tools and methods in working with vulnerable children and families in Great Britain and in the Czech Republic

This thesis constitutes an analysis and instructions for use of the Communi-crate resources, the 'communication crate' which is a set of specific practical tools used in working with vulnerable children and families as used in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and are being introduced in practice in the Czech Republic. The tools contained in this thesis are designed for use by special educators and social workers in direct work with vulnerable families, children, young persons, or even adults. All of these tools have actually been tested and proven in practice and some have been adapted from their original language versions for use in the Czech Republic. In this thesis, the resources contained in the Communi-crate are divided into logical groups and each of them is described structured into chapters accordingly. Each tool is described in more or less detail, including tips for use. Most resources are also illustrated. The case studies described have been collected from practice in the Czech Republic and in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Supported Housing for Persons with Learning Disability from the Viewpoint of Those Persons

The thesis focuses on supported protected housing for persons with learning disabilities and the personal experience of such persons using various types of such housing. The first chapter contains the theoretical basis of this topic and its subchapters list certain trends in social services. It contains the definition of the expression supported protected housing for persons with learning disabilities and its individual types. Chapter two focuses on the users of the social services consisting in provision of supported protected housing for persons with learning disabilities. Its first subchapter focuses on the expression of adulthood, the other subchapters then deal with psychological characteristics and particular features of persons with learning disabilities. Chapter three contains the research. It contains the justification of the research issue, stipulates the objective of the thesis, and defines the research questions.
