System for Bucket Wheel Excavators and Spreaders Tracking at Severočeské doly a.s.

The main purpose of this measuring system for monitoring the position of bucket wheel excavators and stackers in real time is to extend the control systems of surface lignite mining. The position of the center of the wheel or boom axis is calculated from data measured by GNSS technology, an inclinometer and an inertial measuring unit located on each mining machine. The data is then transferred and stored in a database. Visualization of the wheel movement in real time is performed in the KVAS software environment, which allows working with a digital terrain model.
