Design of low-pressure magnetorheological damper

This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of the limited lifetime of sealing elements inside high-pressure magnetorheological dampers. The lifetime could be extended by the low-pressure damper design, which is also the aim of this thesis. The proposed design achieves low-pressure operation thanks to the MR foot valve inserted between the damping piston and floating piston of the air chamber. This foot valve also contains a blow-off check valve. For simplicity and to reduce the upfront costs of the testing prototype, the damper was designed by modifying an existing single-tube high-pressure MR damper available at FSI VUT. The contribution of this thesis is the experimental evaluation of check valve function in MR fluid. Valve exhibits asymmetrical behaviour and closes rapidly. The main outcome is the design of a low-pressure single-tube MR damper. It is expected that operation at lower pressures will extend the lifetime of sealing elements which may lead to broader implementation of MR dampers.
FITkit as a Programmer of Microcontrollers

This thesis explores the possibilites of using FITkit as a programmer of Microchip PIC and Atmel AVR microcontrollers. It describes methods of microcontroller programming and procedures that need to be followed to program a microcontroller. It also details the implementation of a FPGA design able to program these microcontrollers and a corresponding application for PC. At last, it evaluates the results, with focus at programming speed.

The subject of this master thesis is the characterization of an intelligent networks so-called Smart Grids in the energy industry and the realization of testing scenarios in a power grid simulator. The theoretical part maps the main specifications, communication principles, and architecture of Smart grid. The practical part describes the simulation of the power grid of small suburban area and the effect of electric vehicles and renewable resources on the grid. The results of the thesis are network status assessment and design of steps required for a successful wide deployment of electric vehicles and renewable energy resources.

The limnological measurement and research of periphyton and aquatic macrophytes were conducted in the framework of 'Strategy AV 21, post-mining landscape restoration' in 2020. Despite the good ecological potential in Lakes Milada and Most, there are several indications of possible future deterioration of water quality (e.g., the occurrence of subsurface cyanobacterial maxima in Lake Most, excessive growth of periphyton mats in both lakes, strong bottom anoxia in Lake Milada).

Tax Registers of the Town of Rakovnik, 1436-1449 [1450] The dissertation deals with financial administration of bohemian cities in the Middle Ages and its reflection in municipal financial books. The main focus is involvement of cities in the state tax administration. The municipal tax registers were also studied as sources for research of economic and social structure of medieval cities. Synchronization of circadian clock in rat during ontogenesis and in adulthood

The circadian system temporally controls behavioral and physiological processes in most organisms so that they change during the day and night with a period of about 24 h. It is an evolutionary adaptation to anticipate periodic changes in environment on the Earth. In mammals, the circadian system consists of the central pacemaker in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of hypothalamus and of oscillators located in numerous peripheral organs and tissues. At the molecular level, the circadian clock is based on the rhythmic expression of so called clock genes. The ontogenetic development of the circadian system is a gradual process and the most important changes undergo during the late embryonic and early postnatal stage. Many behavioral, hormonal and metabolic signals provided by the mother are considered to be involved in circadian clock synchronization during early ontogenesis. The mechanisms of the entrainment are not fully known yet. The motor and cognitive consequences of inborn cerebellar degeneration and some possibilities how to influence it The cerebellum is traditionally considered to be a coordinator of movements and equilibrium and a regulator of muscular tone. Participation of the cerebellum on the motor learning has been discovered later. Besides that, there is increasing experimental and clinical evidence supporting the idea of an important role of the cerebellum in common cognitive functions. Increasing number of experimental works - especially those on animals - demonstrate an effect of the the cerebellum on the memory and different types of learning. A suitable model to study the cerebellar degeneration are Lurcher mutant mice. During their lives, there is a progressive loss of Purkinje cells followed by a loss of granular cells and inferior oliva neurons. Entrainment of the circadian system in rodents

The circadian clock located within the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus responds to changes in the duration of day length, i.e. photoperiod, differently in the separate SCN parts. The aim of the study was i) to compare the effect of a long and a short photoperiod with twilight relative to that with rectangular light-to-dark transition on the daily profiles of clock gene expression and their protein levels within the rostral, middle and caudal regions of the mouse SCN; ii) to elucidate the dynamics of adjustment to a change of a long photoperiod to a short photoperiod of clock gene expression rhythms in the mouse SCN and in the peripheral clock in the liver, as well as of the locomotor activity rhythm; iii) to elucidate whether and how swiftly the immature rat fetal and neonatal molecular SCN clocks can be reset by maternal cues and iv) to reveal when and where within the rat SCN the photic sensitivity of clock gene expression develops during the early postnatal ontogenesis and to compare it with development of cfos photoinduction.
