Environmental Education and pupils' transport behaviour of selected Elementary School in Czechia
Šafránek, Michal ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kolomazníková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the environmental education and the modal choice of transport, especially pupils traveling to school. The main object of the thesis is to determine, whether has the environmental education positive impact to a transport behavior of pupils and to their exploitation environmentally friendly means of transport. First part of the thesis is based on czech and foreign literature, it represents importance of the environment for people and other animals and plant species and deals with impact of transport on environment. This part also analyzes the environmental education and its possibilities, position and legislative and curricular anchoring in these times, everything with emphasis on influence of transport on the environment. Empirical part of the thesis is connected with first theoretical part of the thesis. Through a survey at czech elementary schools this part analyzes view of schools on transport and environmental issues and main factors, which influence modal choice. Two Prague elementary schools situated in similar type of a housing development with different approach to teaching the environmental education are studied in detail. Results suggest, that incorporating the environmental education into teaching leads to changes in transport behavior only in connection with...
Prediction of economic development of Czech regions using a model of potential accessibility
Elster, Jan ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hudeček, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to find out the relationship between the development of the economic situation in Czech regions and potential accessibility of road networks evaluated with mathematical analysis. The intent of the model is to define a relationship between the transport accessibility and economic state in municipalities in 2001, 2011 and to predict for 2021. This evaluation has been reached with the model of potential accessibility. Several methodological problems had to be solved. Model calibration was provided with respect to the reality and changes in economic state in particular geographical regions. After the first step, which was focused on finding out the optimal model for potential accessibility of road networks, the linear regression with prediction of gross added economic value in analysed regions was used. Results showed only minor growth of gross added economic value in core geographical regions in the Czech Republic. In contrary, in peripheral regions dynamic growth of gross economic added value can be expected. This thesis follows the present interest in developing a transportation geography mathematical model, which can help us to understand the road transportation accessibility and its impact on economical development. Key words Potential accessibility, linear regression,...
Approaches to the study of spatial interactions in geography: an example of evaluation of transport relationships among settlement centres in Czechia
Chmelík, Jakub ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kraft, Stanislav (referee) ; Horňák, Marcel (referee)
Spatial interactions considerably influence complex geographic organisation and the shaping of settlement structures, explaining and describing the importance of interrelationships in the landscape sphere on all scale levels. This is why they are called one of the crucial general terms of geography. When it comes to this topic, the biggest emphasis on it is primarily laid in the study of transport as well as transport networks that we can consider the main support for interactions. The topic of evaluation of spatial interactions or, if defined narrowly, of transport relationships, is characteristic due to its important interdisciplinary nature because the questions of interrelatedness of individual centres and their needs in the context of transport offer are dealt with by transport engineering fields, economic fields, land-use planning specialists, etc. Similarly to other spheres of social and economic geography, where this occurred earlier, present-day geography of transport is undergoing a change in the form of a variety of methodological approaches, "internal" specification of a more detailed delineation of the subject of study and new application challenges. As a rule, the topic of intensity and nature of transport relationships is associated with quantitative methods of cognition of the...
The Influence of Railways on Residential Suburbanization in the hinterland of Prague: the example of Černošice
Trenda, Jakub ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
The Influence of Railways on Residential Suburbanization in the hinterland of Prague: the example of Černošice The target of the diploma thesis is to explain the long term influence of railway on the feature and development of residential suburbanization within the hinterland of Prague. The influence was assessed on the set of information found in the literature and 3 main factors which the thesis deal with. The first factor is the influence of railway on the development of population in relation to residential suburbanization. The second factor is the verification of the existence of railway suburb in the hinterland of Prague in the case of Černošice. The third factor is the influence of railway on the decision making of chosen mode of transport used for commuting. Qualitative and quantitative data were used in the thesis. Statistical data analysis was used as well as the information found in the archives. Keywords: railway, residential suburbanization, Černošice, the hinterland of Prague
Effect of high-capacity transport infrastructure on socioeconomic development of municipalities in the Central Bohemia region
Barek, David ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
High capacity transport infrastructure is often referred to as a one of key factors in regional development. The aim of this study is specify effects of capacity transport infrastructure in relation with accessibility to Prague on possible municipalities development in the Central Bohemia region. Basis of this research is identify indicators, that are significantly affected existence of transport infrastructure and accessibility strong core and then to formulate future development of concerned areas. We used spatial analysis methods with demarcation time accessibility zones for accessibility research. Long term development is monitored using index changes of relevant indicators between 2001 and 2011 and their significance are evaluated by analysis of variance. Key factors in municipalities on transport infrastructure were compared with SO ORP. Characteristic of significant effects in area has provide identification different values in development. In spite problematic data base this research confirmed development effects of high capacity roads, especially in demographic terms, but they are significantly influenced by the time accessibility to region core and area economic base. The results can be used as a document for deciding on territorial investment and to prediction effects for the planned transport...
The competitiveness of public transport on example of the Pardubice Region
Hrbek, Martin ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Květoň, Viktor (referee)
The competitiveness of public transport on example of the Pardubice Region Abstract This diploma thesis is devoted to the competitiveness of public transport in the municipalities of the Pardubice Region. Competitiveness is understood mainly in terms of the price difference between travel time and cost of public and individual car transport, and also in terms of the real demand in the municipalities, thus the share of commuting by public transport. Other parameters of mode choice, that is understood as the main indicator of competitiveness, is the number of public transport lines and automobilization. The main objective of this work is to determine how public transportation depends on the other transport characteristics of municipalities. To select significant variables, multiple linear regression analysis was used. After that, geographically weighted regression was applied in order to explain the share of commuting from municipalities. Most data originate in public databases (The Register of vehicles of Department of Transport, population census, digital geographic databases ArcČR and CEDA) and web portals (OREDO, IDOS), part of the data was obtained within questionnaire survey in selected municipalities. An expected negative relationship between the degree of automobilization and the number of public...
Connection between distribution of socio-economic characteristics of population and economy in relation to railway network in Czechoslovakia in 1921 and 1930
Marek, Martin Václav ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Nováček, Aleš (referee)
Connection between distribution of socio-economic characteristics of population and economy in relation to railway network in Czechoslovakia in 1921 and 1930 Abstract Transport is closely related with social and economic processes in space and they affect each other. History of transport, and economy and history of the population are themes quite well covered. Attempts to synthetically cover history of transport and society and its activities in the space have not been numerous, if any they only referred to certain examples, although the transport, especially rail, is mentioned as an important factor of development. The diploma thesis analyzes statistical dependece of selected demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of national censuses in 1921 and 1930 and economic characteristics and agriculural units in 1930 on rail infrastructure in the Czechoslovak Republic. The key statistical data are selected census results (eg. age of population, literacy and inhabitans in the sector of the national economy), results of census of economic and agricultural units (for example units equipment) at the level of administrative units in Czechoslovakia. Spatial data (maps) are an important source, too. These allow statistical and visualization operations in the GIS. They had to be digitized in order to create map...
