Prosaist Vilém Mrštík belonged to the most important writers of 90th ages of 19th century. He was a initiator of new movement in literature - naturalism. He occupyed onself with translation activity, prose, drama and also with poetry. He enrolled for consciunsness of public novel called Pohádka máje and on not least siries drama Maryša whereat cooperated his brother Alois Mrštík. Aim: This thesis wants counterpoint gains of Vilém Mrštík in progress czech modern prose. Herewith also apprise with his life, with his near friends and the least with his literary ctivity.
