Methodology of Research, Revision and Passporting of Historical Library Collections
Šípek, Richard ; Mašek, Petr ; Hájek, Pavel ; Paličková, Tereza
The aim of the methodology is to present a clear synthetic guide and tool for the care of the historical book collection, its analysis in terms of content, chronology and provenance and its synthesizing evaluation in the form of a study. In addition to a comprehensive secondary bibliography on the issue of the historical book collection in the broadest sense and an overview of current legislation, it also contains a clear guide to the global treatment of the historical book collection according to its specific type, as well as recommendations for its long-term management and care. The methodology also includes advice on the selection of books for conservation and restoration and on ensuring appropriate storage conditions for the historic book collection.

The Library of Melchior Gniesen von Kobach
Opatrná, Michaela ; Šípek, Richard (advisor) ; Mašek, Petr (referee)
Opatrná, Michaela - The Library of Melchior Gniesen von Kobach Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University, Prague 1, sq. Jana Palacha 2 Thesis supervisor: PhDr. Richard Šípek, Ph.D. The aim of this Thesis is to describe the newly discovered Library of Melchior Gniesen von Kobach († 1627), the Council of the Appellate court and the Chancellor of the Maltese Order, which is currently located in Maltese library stored in the Library of the National Archive of the Czech Republic (includes 184 vol.). The theoretical part presents a basic information about the formation and form of town libraries in the early modern period, short description of the Knights of St John in Bohemia, description of the history and current state of the convent library in Prague, Melchior Gniesen's CV and presentation of his library. In the practical part thereis a complete catalog of the surviving books of the Library of Melchior Gniesen, its content and formal analysis, followed by evaluation of the importance of work. Used research methods are: observation, document analysis and analogy.
The Geopolitics of Japan within the process of globalization and geopolitic changes
Mašek, Petr ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Sýkora, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the geopolitics of the Japanese Empire in the process of economic globalization. The primary objective is to evaluate the characteristics and changes of Japanese geopolitics in the context of a globalized and changing world and to outline it's perspective orientation and new challenges. The thesis tries to answer these fundamental questions. How the geopolitical thinking and direction of Japan had developed in the postwar period in the context of a changing geopolitical architecture of the system? What challenges or conflicts did Japan have been through and how it reacts to changes in the present system? How the post-war changes and the end of the Cold War had reflected in the participation and position of Japan in the international economic system under conditions of intensifying globalization? The thesis is divided into several parts. At the beginning, there is a short summary of geopolitical theories and definitions of key concepts. The following chapters are analytical, dealing with the description of the development of Japanese domestic and foreign policy, as well as relationships to key countries, first in the political, economic level subsequently. Final part is followed by a practical grasp of lessons learned and showing them on specific examples. Keywords:...
Provenance and content survey castle library Chuchelná
Nebeská, Barbora ; Mašek, Petr (advisor) ; Šípek, Richard (referee)
Theme of this bachelor thesis is provenance and contentual survey castle library Chuchelná. The first chapters are describing ancestry of the Lichnowsky family, history of village Chuchelná and castle buildings. Chapter called "Provenance characteristic of library collection" identifies book owners from Lichnowsky family and assignes individual fascicles to their owner. In chapter "Contentual analysis of the library collection" is elaborated the main subject matter - expresionism, which relates to the principal "magnifier" of this library, Mechtilda Lichnowsky. This chapter covers other contentual categories as well. [Author abstract]
Suitability Of The Lorawan Technology For Massive Machine-Type Communication
Mašek, Petr
A remarkable progress in the LPWAN (Low PowerWide Area Network) technologies overthe recent years opens new opportunities for developing versatile massive IoT (Internet of Things)applications. In this paper, we focus on one of the most popular LPWAN solutions operating in thelicense-exempt frequency bands, named LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network). The keycontribution of this work is the implementation of the LoRaWAN technology within the NetworkSimulator 3. The collected simulation results reveal the expected spectrum utilization within theunlicensed band as well as show the transmission success rate for different communication distancesbetween end-devices and LoRaWAN gateways.
Implementation of the LoRaWAN Communication Technology Using the Network Simulator 3
Mašek, Petr ; Pospíšil, Jan (referee) ; Mašek, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis focuses on the description of LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) technologies for use in IoT (Internet of Things) communication scenarios. The theoretical part compares communication technologies operating in the license-exempt frequency band, i.e. Sigfox and LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network). Furthermore, technologies using the licensed frequency spectrum are discussed, specifically, attention is focused on NB-IoT (Narrow Band IoT). Emphasis is placed on LoRaWAN technology and the properties of the unlicensed frequency band below the 1 GHz, which is utilized by this technology. The practical part of the thesis consists of the evaluation of simulation scenarios using an integrated module in the simulation environment NS-3 (Network Simulator 3). Attention is focused mainly on the analysis of data transmission success using selected communication parameters of LoRaWAN technology. The obtained simulation outputs with a focus on mMTC (massive Machine-Type Communication) communication scenarios confirm the relationship between the number of end devices and gateways, communication distance and transmission reliability, or the limit value for the duty cycle.
Interactive web applications for support of teaching signal processing
Mašek, Petr ; Rajmic, Pavel (referee) ; Záviška, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of processing one-dimensional signals. Five interactive web applications have been created in JavaScript to support teaching. These are applets that relate to the following topics: rational number resampling of the discrete signal, mean and root mean square signal values, discrete linear and circular convolution in 1D, and discrete cross correlation. The thesis introduces each topic by a theoretical foreword, followed by description of implementation and user interface of the created applications and further there is a commentary on the development and testing of applets.
Static solution of reinforced concrete structure
Mašek, Petr ; Kostiha, Vojtěch (referee) ; Zlámal, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with study of feasibility of waterpark monolithic reinforced concrete structure with roof terrace. This structure has one underground floor, which has water park utility function and two above ground floors. On the roof is terrace with grass, mobile bar and with space to relax. Subject of this diploma thesis is the main loadbearing frame, which has span 32 m. The structure is assessed according to limit states of valid norms and also takes into account construction stages and time dependent analysis. The structure is calculated on beam and slab-plate structural models. Structural analysis and general drawings are done.
