A master's thesis "Brandýs nad Labem and Stará Boleslav 1938-1945" is focused on description of selected aspects of the life in towns. Since events of the year 1938, through occupation and period called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, till the time before revolt in May 1945. Due to better clarity, the thesis is divided into chapters dealing with social and culture progression, transformation of the town government, war industry, resistance movement and war events that intervene in the life in towns. Separate chapters dealed with the fate of the Jewish community, outline the course of the postwar investigation of collaboration and war monuments of Czech and German victims. " Battle of the Symbols of the University" on the pages of Přítomnost

This bachelor thesis inquires into the reflection of "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" on the pages of Přítomnost. It charts editor's offices stances to nationalism is the Czechoslovak society in the first half of 1930's. The thesis insists on the representative choice of articles of Přítomnost and on archive materials to describe the event. The objective of the work is to bring the sum of stances of magazine to the students, nationalism, relation between Czech and Germen people an "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" in the first half of 1930's. The work charts the stances of the Czechoslovak society, which is represented by the magazine Přítomnost.

Beginning of the Angolan colonial war-its reflection on the press and literature before the year 1989

During its first months. the Czechoslovakian press printed almost daily news about the colonial war in Angola (1961 - 1975). The news coverage is analysed and compared to the literature edited during the socialist regime and also with contemporary international literature. As a result of the comparison we were able to appreciate how as the conflict matured and became better known internationally. the coverage became more biased. In the beginning seems like the editors don't know hO\,v each actor in the war is aligned with the international powers and gives a rather impartial account of the events. Gradually the positions are clarified and propaganda gains more weight in the news. 104

Castle Střekov as a symbol of Ústí nad Labem in the 19th and 20th century

5.0 Nemecke resume - Zusammenfassung Das Thema dieser Magisterarbeit ist die Wahrnehmung der Burg Schreckenstein (Stfekov) als Symbol der Stadt Aussig (Usti nad Labern) und ihrer Umgebung des EIbetals im Böhmischen Mittelgebirge, und als Erinnerungsort der Region. Der Zeitraum beinhaltet das 19. und 20. Jahrhundert. Es geht um die Zeit, als die vor dem Jahre 1319 gegründete Burg, schon lange ihre ursprüngliche Funktion als Wachtburg, Zollstation und Sitz des Adels nicht erfüllte, wurde nicht mehr eine Wirtschaftseinheit und wurde langsam zum gesuchten Touristenziel und Inspiration für die Künstler. Darum wurde als Quelle vor allem die zeitgenössische Literatur, wie Touristenführer, Monographien über die Burg, topographische Literatur und regionale Periodika, benutzt. Die Arbeit wird chronologisch nach den einzelnen Zeitabschnitten gegliedert. Die erste erforschte Periode ist die Zeit der Romantik in der 1. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Auf der Burg, seit 1563 im Besitz des Adelsgeschlechts Lobkowicz, wurden die ersten Baureparaturen durchgeführt, die sie vor dem weiteren Verfall schützen und auch dem wachsenden Touristenverkehr anpassen sollen. Schreckenstein wurde zur Inspiration für die - vor allem bildenden - Künstler, die seine romantische Lage in der Landschaft hervorheben. Von den berühmten Besuchern...
